Acoustic Foam Gaskets

Acoustic Foam Gasket

Acoustic Foam Gaskets

Advanced Seals & Gaskets are leading manufacturers in gaskets, producing gaskets using state of the art machinery, housed in our newly renovated facilities.  In house design and manufacturing enables us to work closely with our customers and provide high quality gaskets to match their specifications, drawings, or samples, whilst keeping lead times to a minimum as we do not need to rely on external manufacturers.

A gasket is sheet material such as rubber, sponge, or foam cut into a ring or bespoke shape used to seal between two surfaces, found in many industries such as construction, sound engineering, manufacturing, and industrial.  Many of these industries use Class O acoustic foam gaskets for a variety of applications from noise dampening, insulation, vibrations control, padding, and cushioning.  Advanced Seals & Gaskets have a range of gasket production machinery meaning we can cater for 1 off samples or batches of 1000’s as individual parts or kiss cut in sheets or rolls depending on the size of the part required.

Why use Acoustic foam gaskets?

There are various ways to utilize acoustic foam gaskets, many of our customers use acoustic foam gaskets where noise reduction, vibration control, or thermal insulation properties are required.  Acoustic foam gaskets are used in such industries as construction, sound engineering, manufacturing, and industrial.  These industries use acoustic foam gaskets for a variety of applications from noise dampening, thermal insulation, vibration control, padding, and cushioning.

Class O acoustic foam gaskets can be made in the thickness of just a few mm, and supplied plain or with a range of faces such as foil, self adhesive, or even laminated to other sponge and rubber materials.  For further information on the many uses of acoustic foam gaskets please get in touch and a member of our team will assist you.

    What is acoustic foam?

Class O acoustic foam is a light weight, open cell material made from polyurethane, often cut into tiles/pads used to reduce sound by controlling the reverberations that sound can make by reflecting off walls. Class O acoustic foam is primarily used for dampening sounds and sound proofing commonly found used in recording studios. The material works by attenuating the sound waves, lowering their amplitude to reduce and control the noise, in turn capturing energy from the sound waves and dissipating it as heat.  The purpose of acoustic foam is not to totally eliminate sounds, but to help reduce noise and vibration.

    Different Grades

There are a number of materials available from  ASG used for gasket production, our Class O acoustic foam being just one.  Class O acoustic foam is a light-weight, flexible material highly adaptable for many industries and applications.  This matched with the thermal insulation characteristics makes the material excellent for use as pipe lagging, duct lining, and engine room insulation, etc.  For more information on acoustic foam or our other gasket materials please get in touch with our team today.

    Benefits of acoustic foam gaskets

    • Grease Resistance
    • Non-toxic, HCF & CFC and Dust Free
    • Oil Resistant
    • Durable
    • Chemical Resistant
    • Doesn’t support mildew or fungal growth

The Advantages of using acoustic foam gaskets

Class O Acoustic foam gaskets hold various advantageous properties that are highly utilizable in a variety of industries. Its excellent flammability standards, noise dampening, and thermal insulation properties make it perfect for building and construction.

It is also a non-toxic,  non-dusting material that doesn’t support fungal growth, perfect for ductwork/ventilation applications, and is flexible so easily applied to curved or misshapen surfaces such as around pipes or inside machinery and vehicles.
