Insertion Rubber Gasket
Insertion Rubber Gasket
Advanced Seals & Gaskets offer a huge choice of high-quality gaskets cut from a range of solid rubber materials, including commercial insertion rubber. Solid commercial insertion rubber, used to manufacture insertion rubber gaskets, is sometimes referred to as SBR (styrene-butadiene rubber) rubber, a lower-cost alternative to natural rubber, which is often mixed with other polymers such as neoprene and EPDM.
Our commercial insertion rubber gaskets are produced in-house, meaning we can manufacture bespoke items to match our customer's samples or drawings, from a simple rectangular picture frame gasket to more complex shapes with cut-outs, notches or bolt holes.
Whether it's a small sample batch or a multi-thousand quantity run, we have a machine designed to quickly and accurately produce perfectly formed gaskets every time.
As with all solid rubber, commercial insertion is manufactured in roll form at 1.4 meters wide x 10 meters long and in thicknesses starting at 1mm, which can then be laminated to other materials or coated with a self-adhesive backing prior to the insertion rubber gaskets being cut.
What are Solid Commercial Insertion Rubber Gaskets?
Solid commercial insertion rubber (SBR styrene-butadiene rubber) manufactured to the same specification as SBR but is produced with a mesh/fabric reinforcement layer running through the centre referred to as the ‘insertion’. The reinforcement gives this economy grade material, an even higher tensile strength and wear resistance.
SBR rubber compounds are often mixed with other polymers such as neoprene (CR/SBR), EPDM and Nitrile (NBR/SBR) which are intended to improve or add additional properties, all of which can also be manufactured in the insertion grade.
Solid commercial insertion rubber gaskets sometimes come in the form of a strip or pad, but generally an intricately cut shaped piece of material placed between two surfaces to create a low-pressure seal preventing the leakage of liquids or gas and to seal against the intrusion of dust and debris.

Why use Solid Commercial Insertion Rubber Gaskets?
Commercial insertion rubber gaskets have many excellent properties and are often offered as a low cost, general-purpose material with high tensile and impact strength, resistance to tear and abrasion and flexibility even at low temperatures.
Solid commercial rubber gaskets have a working temperature range of between 70℃ to -20℃ and have good resistance to water, but are not suitable for applications involving chemicals, ozone, very strong acids, grease, fat oils and hydrocarbons.
This material can often be found used in many general-purpose applications such as wear strips and impact pads in production lines, automotive parts, scraper blades, hoses, belts, insertion rubber gaskets and seals.
Benefits of Commercial Insertion Rubber
- Excellent resilience and tensile strength
- Excellent seal against air, water and diluted mixtures
- Temperature: -20°C up to +70°C.
- Insertion rubber gaskets are abrasion resistance
- Excellent impact strength
- Improved tear resistance
Grades of Commercial Insertion Rubber Available
Advanced Seals & Gaskets work with many material manufacturers which gives our customers more choice. Commercial rubber is not only available as an SBR grade, but also blended with other polymers to give a cheaper alternative, some of these blends include:
CR/SBR insertion rubber (neoprene) is manufactured using neoprene rubber and SBR compounds to create a material with properties of premium grade material at a reduced cost. This material is generally used for gap sealing and dust seals. Commercial grade neoprene offers resistance to oils, grease, dilute acids and alkalies and are hard-wearing enough to be used outdoors.
NBR/SBR insertion (Nitrile) is manufactured using nitrile rubber and SBR compounds to create a material suitable for general purpose gasketing. This commercial-grade rubber offers resistance to fuels, petroleum, oils and many solvents making it suitable for use within a variety of industrial applications.
EPDM/SBR insertion rubber is another hybrid made up of 2 different compounds. This particular grade of material offers good resistance to weathering and Ozone deterioration and provides properties such as high tensile strength and tear resistance. Commercial grade EPDM rubber is typically used for applications such as pipe seals, weather strips and dust seals.
