Foil Acoustic Foam Pad
Foil Acoustic Foam Pad
ASG manufacture and supply a large array of non-metallic products including acoustic foil faced polyurethane foam pads in a number of grades, one of which includes foil-faced acoustic polyurethane. Class O acoustic foam is manufactured and stocked in block form, where it can be laminated with foil and converted into products at various thicknesses starting from just 1.5mm thick.
Our foilacoustic foil faced polyurethane foam pads are produced on-site using drawings or measurements provided by our customers, with whom we work closely to ensure the final product is to their exact specification. Depending upon the size and quantity of pads required, one of many presses, bandsaws or CNC machines can be used to manufacture the final product, from one-off samples to multiple thousand batches runs.
Acoustic foil faced polyurethane foam pads can be produced in a range of finishes using our in-house adhesive and laminating facilities, where they can also be laminated to other materials to produce composite sheets, or covered with one of our many or self-adhesives.
What are Foil Faced Polyurethane Foam Pads?
Foil-faced polyurethane foam is a combination of Class ‘O’ acoustic foam is an open-cell, lightweight foam covered in layers of aluminium foil, used for acoustic control, noise and vibration treatment and as thermal insulation material. When used as sound absorption panels or flooring, the material attenuates the sound waves, lowering their amplitude to reduce and control the noise whilst the captured energy from the sound waves is dissipated as heat.
Foil-faced acoustic foam is flame-retardant and meets UL-94 V-0 and BS476 part 6 & 7, it is Non-toxic, HCF & CFC Free doesn’t support fungal growth, is dust-free making it an ideal material for pad production for use in marine, building and construction, automotive, heating & Ventilation and manufacturing applications.
Our acoustic foil faced polyurethane foam pads can be produced as squares or rectangles with the option of radius corners, and also as circular or oval-shaped acoustic foil faced polyurethane foam pads or ‘discs’, in a range of thicknesses. Manufacturing acoustic foil faced polyurethane foam pads in-house even means we can supply them in a plain or self-adhesive backed finish and even laminate multiple types of material together to create bespoke and unique variations.

Why use Foil Faced Polyurethane Foam Pads?
Many customers use class foil-faced polyurethane foam and products manufactured from this material as a solution to sound, vibration and thermal insulating applications. Acoustic foam materials and products, such as acoustic foil faced polyurethane foam pads, can be found used in most industries including engineering, construction, automotive and HVAC to name a few.
Class O acoustic foam is primarily used for sound reduction and in many other applications as the material has high performance in fire protection and thermal insulation. The addition of the foil facing adds additional thermal and insulation properties, as the aluminium foil reflects and isolates heat, whilst offering extra shielding against vibration and noise.
Acoustic foil faced polyurethane foam pads are resistant to wear and tear and are often found used in plant machinery, hydraulic power pack enclosures, internal engine compartments and compressor housings to fill gaps and irregularities between surfaces and to provide a solution to unwanted rattles, noise, vibrations, to seal against air, gas, dust and liquids, and can also be used to cushion between moving parts and under machinery to reduce friction and damage to components and equipment.
Advantages of Using Foil Faced Polyurethane Foam Pads
Using acoustic foil faced polyurethane foam pads offers a huge number of benefits and uses. Not only do they offer additional soundproofing, but they also act as sound and vibration absorption panels, and can help sound transmission loss.
These acoustic foil faced polyurethane foam pads can be used as components within soundproof enclosures in which noisy machinery and equipment can be housed and also in many automotive and HVAC applications.
As both the foil and the class ‘O’ foam are flame retardant, it is often one of the safest materials to use within building and construction under flooring, within walls and ceilings, especially studios or home cinema rooms and even in engine rooms such as on marine vessels.
The foil offers resistance to moisture and oils, which is also easy to clean, it is lightweight, easy to apply foam odour free and can be recycled.
Benefits of Using Foil Faced Polyurethane Foam
- Acoustic foil faced polyurethane foam pads can be used as floor, wall or ceiling linings for soundproofing enclosures and rooms
- Reduces unwanted vibration, noise
- Flame retardant
- Acoustic foil faced polyurethane foam pads can be supplied as foil faced on both sides or with a self-adhesive backing on the other face
- Available in various thicknesses and weights
- Doesn’t support mildew or fungal growth
Different Grades
We at ASG supply a variety of materials with acoustic properties, with Class O acoustic foam being the most popular where a combination of soundproofing and flame retardancy is required. It is a lightweight and flexible material excellent for use as pipe lagging, duct lining and engine room/automotive insulation and much more. Class O acoustic foam is available in various forms including:
- Class O acoustic foam sheet
- Convoluted egg box foam
- Class O acoustic with barrier foam
