Basotect Foam Roll
Basotect Foam Roll
Rolls of Polyurethane materials are available in solid or foam variants, with Melamine or Basotech being just one type on offer from ASG. Within the industry, this material may be referred to as Melamine foam, Basotect foam, Melamine Basotect foam or Melamine Polyurethane foam, that are used to manufacture a range of products, including basotect polyurethane foam rolls.
As with many other PU foams, melamine foam is manufactured in jumbo or master blocks (buns), at 2500mm long x 1250mm wide x 500mm thick, which are held in stock ready to be joined and split to produce melamine basotect polyurethane foam rolls which are 1250mm wide and in lengths up to 100 meters long depending on thickness. Our in-house state of the art conversion facilities enable us to be able to produce and supply these basotect polyurethane foam rolls in thicknesses starting from as little as 1.5mm.
These melamine basotect polyurethane foam rolls can be supplied plain or with a self-adhesive finish, or alternatively further converted using our range of presses, log cutters and bandsaws which allows us to produce finished cut parts such as gaskets, strips, pads of washers.

What Are Melamine Basotect Polyurethane Foam Rolls?
Some of our melamine basotect polyurethane foam rolls can be made using Melamine or "Basotect" foam, a low density, open cell PU foam, formulated from melamine resin (a duroplastic synthetic material), creating a light weight, flexible and very soft material, available in a range of colours ranging from very dark grey, to white each suited to different applications.
Melamine basotect polyurethane foam rolls are converted in-house using jumbo blocks of foam, which are joined together to achieve the desired length and then fed through our splitting machines to create basotect polyurethane foam rolls at the requested thickness. Melamine Basotect foam is often taken by customers in roll form as it allows them the flexibility to cut down into components such as pads, strips, gaskets, washers or sheets of any size as and when they are required and are also ideal for when larger pieces of materials are required to cover greater surface areas.
Why Use Melamine Basotect Polyurethane Foam Rolls?
Melamine basotect polyurethane foam rolls are used in many applications and industries for a number of reasons. Its abrasive nature makes it excellent for using to clean surfaces such as glass, tiles and ceramic hobs (recognised as the Magic Sponge’), it can be used in high-temperature applications reaching up to 240°C and is naturally flame resistant even without additional additives.
Basotect polyurethane foam rolls can be found used within many industries including building & construction in the form of acoustic and thermal insulation panelling in studios and theatres or used within machinery and marine equipment.
As well as insulation applications, it is also widely used within the HVAC industry to create air conditioning or ventilation components which can be precisely cut for a perfect fit even on curved surfaces. By using melamine basotect polyurethane foam rolls, larger parts can be cut, covering greater surface areas without the use for excessive joins.
Benefits Of Using Melamine Basotect PU Foam
- Open cell structure allowing for water absorption
- Abrasive properties
- melamine basotect polyurethane foam rolls are flame resistance
- High sound and thermal insulation properties
- Basotect polyurethane foam rolls are lightweight
- Heat endurance
The Advantages of Using Melamine Basotect Foam Rolls
Parts cut from Melamine Basotect foams are highly durable and can be used in a broad spectrum of applications and industries such as cleaning , thermal insulation, sound absorption and insulation and filtration components within the HVAC industry.
This foam is very light weight which makes the components ideal for fitting to walls and ceilings within buildings and also as interiors on trains and aircraft.
It is suitable for very high-temperature applications - remaining stable even at 240⁰C and is naturally flame retardant without the need for further additives during the compounding process.
Melamine Basotect Polyurethane Foam is manufactured as standard in a block size of 2500mm long x 1250mm wide x 500mm thick, which can be joined and split down to produce basotect polyurethane foam rolls or coils of various lengths, thickness and widths - supplied in a plain or self adhesive option - available in several shades of grey and white to be physically more attractive when placed in position.
Other Grades of Open Cell PU Foams Available:
Polyester - This material has an open cell structure suited for use as filtration media for sound - ideal for speaker panels.
Polyether is made up of large open cells which allow for airflow without retaining moisture, making it perfect for use as filtration foams, aquarium foams and marine equipment.
Class O Acoustic is found used in many acoustic and thermal insulation applications within building and construction industries. It can also be used in heating and ventilation applications where a fire rated material is essential.
Reticulated Foam - Recognised by its fully open cellular structure and appearance, which is ideal for air and liquid filtration, even when used with mild acids and alkalis, fuel, organic chemicals, oils, lubricants and detergents. Available in 10ppi 20ppi 30ppi 45ppi 60ppi 80ppi (pores per inch).
