Polyurethane Rubber Rolls
Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd stock a whole range of non-metallic materials in roll form including many foams, sponges, plastics and rubbers. Rolls of Polyurethane are just one material available from ASG in foam and solid versions.
Solid Polyurethane is part of the synthetic polymer family and is a popular rubber found used in a range of industries, it’s a high performance rubber, abrasion resistant and extremely durable. Standard industrial grade Polyurethane Rubber Rolls are usually available from stock in 60° shore and 80° shore hardnesses and in translucent and black colour options, other hardnesses available to order range from 5°shore to 95° shore, in thicknesses from 1.5mm-10mm and roll sizes of 1.4m wide x 5 meter or,10 meter lengths.
Rolls of Polyurethane can be made in a choice of colours to order which can be taken in full or alternatively converted into a number of finished products including sheets, pads, washers, strips and gaskets. As we carry out all our own conversion in-house, we can supply these rolls slit down into smaller widths and shorter lengths, whilst our on-site laminating service allows us to laminate the rolls of solid PU rubber with a choice of adhesives, foils or with layers of other material types

What are Solid Polyurethane Rubber Rolls?
Solid Polyurethane is an extremely durable synthetic rubber material offering strength and abrasion resistance. Rolls of Solid Polyurethane can be taken in full, or alternatively converted using one of our many saws, presses and CNC machines to products components such as strips, pads, washers and gaskets.
Solid Polyurethane Rubber Rolls are manufactured at 1.4 meters wide and in a choice of 5 meter or 10 meter lengths and in thicknesses from 1.5mm to 10mm as standard (other thicknesses can be made to order) with a plate finish on both faces.
Why use Polyurethane Rubber Rolls?
Polyurethane Rubber Rolls can be supplied in full or alternatively used by ASG to convert into smaller components. Customers sometimes choose to take the rolls of raw material to convert themselves into components as and when needed as opposed to taking large volumes of the same product.
Along with the strength and durability offered by Solid Polyurethane rolls of material, other properties include good ageing, chemical, oil, grease and solvent resistance. Solid Polyurethane in comparison to other rubber materials, has a higher tear resistance, better high load bearing capabilities, energy absorption with both sound and vibration and does not discolour as easily as other solid rubbers. Rolls of Solid Polyurethane offer a working temperature range of -30°C to +80°C, and are available in thicknesses up to 10mm as standard in 5 or 10 metre lengths, however others can be manufactured to order (MOQ may apply).
Polyurethane Rubber Rolls of material supplied and converted by ASG are usually in a 60° shore and 80° shore hardness, however they can be made in a wide range of hardnesses from 5 to 95 shore, different colours often used to manufacture scrapers, gaskets, tyres, seals, hoses and belts, it is also often used in the production of many consumer and industrial products such insulation, automotive seats, kitchen appliances, mattresses, rollers, to name but a few.
Alternative Grades of Solid Rubber
Advanced Seals & Gaskets work with a wide network of material manufacturers and suppliers, giving our customers more choice when looking for solid rubber, our most popular grades include:
- Neoprene (CR) is one of our most popular solid rubber materials, with various thicknesses held in stock. Neoprene is suitable for use where there is exposure to grease, oil, acids, ozone and even seawater.
- EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) another very popular solid rubber is great for use in outdoor applications. This material is resistant to water, UV, ozone, weather, abrasion, alkalines, ketones and diluted acids.
- Nitrile (NBR) rubber is a popular solid material for use within the automotive industry where there is contact with petroleum, oil and grease.
- SBR (Styrene-butadiene rubber) is a cost-effective, commercial grade, general-purpose rubber with good abrasion resistance, tensile strength and low compression set. (not sure use with petrol and chemicals).
- Silicone (SI) is an excellent electrical insulation material which can operate at high and low temperatures. Silicone rubber performs well when exposed to UV, weathering, ozone and moisture, and is available in a range of colours.
- Viton rubber materials are manufactured for more demanding applications where there are harsh chemicals and high temperatures present. Viton rubber offers resistance to fluids, oils, acids and petroleum-based liquids.

Benefits of Using Solid Polyurethane Rolls
The type of solid rubber sheet used will depend on the industry, environment and application it is going to be used in and what it will be exposed to. Depending on material used, some of the benefits offered by solid polyurethane rubber include:
- Popular for automotive, electrical, industrial, medical, marine and construction
- Operating Temperature Range: -30°C to +80°C
- Variety of grades, colours, hardnesses available
- Energy (vibration/sound) absorption
- Resistance to oils, grease, chemicals, solvents, ageing, tearing and abrasion
- Lightweight and flexible
Advantages of using Solid Polyurethane Rolls
Polyurethane Rubber Rolls offer users a number of advantages when looking for large or small components which they can cut or press from this material.
Rolls of material can be used by ASG to convert parts inhouse, or alternatively can be taken by customers who are looking to cut individual parts as and when they’re needed. Rolls of material are preferred when larger surface areas are to be covers, for cutting longer strips or gaskets or for cutting large volumes of gaskets or washers without joins and blemishes within the material. In terms of the material itself, the ability of polyurethane to be able to withstand a wide range of extreme temperatures, abrasion, moisture are just some of the excellent properties held by the material.
It is also lightweight and shock absorbing, durable and flexible, maintaining its physical integrity under extreme heat and load bearing, solid PU also has excellent oil-resistant qualities that are useful for exposure to oils or other lubricants. The high temperature resistance makes Solid Polyurethane rolls and the parts cut from them are popular for use along production lines where there is extreme heat such as ovens and furnaces. All of the above features also makes this material widely utilised within the automotive industry used as hoses, bearing pads, engine mounts, seals and gaskets.
Polyurethane can be utilised in a range of applications as it can be manufactured and converted in many ways, it can be in roll form or cut down into small more manageable sheet, these rolls and sheets can also be converted onsite here at Advanced Seals & Gaskets into a wide range of bespoke made to order products including gaskets, washers and fabrications. For parts which can not be produced using sheets or are 3 dimensional or have a hollow centre, polyurethane can also be extruded and moulded in order to produce such parts.
Polyurethane rubber is generally known to last longer than rubber, especially in applications where it’s constantly stretched or otherwise exposed to stress, PU components are manufactured using a non-corrosive compound, available in in a choice of hardnesses and colours and due to the range of manufacturing techniques used in the production of the materials and parts, it is found utilised across a range of industries and applications.
