What are Slow Recovery PVC Foam Seals?
Slow Recovery PVC Foam, like other grades of PVC foam, is made up of PVC and Polyurea compounds which are combined, heated until it expands and then cured, creating a closed cell, low density foam, designed to seal against air, dust and liquids. Slow Recovery PVC Foam as the name suggests ‘recovers’ slowly following compression. Slow Recovery PVC Foam seals are a device or substrate that is used to join surfaces together to either act as a separator or a body to prevent liquids, solids or gases escaping or penetrating the seal. Our Slow Recovery PVC Foam seals can take the form of cut gaskets, strips, washers, extruded cord and bespoke fabrications, which can be supplied with a choice of self-adhesives which assists with holding the seal in situ.
Why use Slow Recovery PVC Foam Seals?
Our Slow Recovery PVC Foam seals offer many of the desirable properties of the other PVC Foam variants which include UV resistance, low level water absorption, dimensional stability perfect for use as air, dust and liquids sealing, but also offers slower recovery following compression.
PVC Foams strips are lightweight, flame retardant and durable, with a Slow Recovery property making it perfect for use in sealing applications where they will be applied to irregular shaped gaps, pipework or surfaces which require more time to manipulate and fit the seal into position.
Advantages of using Slow Recovery PVC Foam Seals
Seals made using Slow Recovery PVC Foam offer countless advantages over other foams including good acoustic, flammability properties and resistance to ozone, UV, rot and mould growth and solvents making them popular for use in sealing, insulation, cushioning and filtration applications such as rooflight seals, glazing seals and refrigeration seals.
The reduced recovery time of these seals means they can be used to create a tight fitting and secure seal as it allows the user time to manipulate and fit the seal into position. Slow Recovery PVC is available in a range of pre-manufactured thicknesses, ready to be shipped or converted in usable finished sealing components where they are utilised in the automotive, construction, electronics, HVAC and stationery industries.
