Food Quality Silicone Rubber Seals
Here at Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd we manufacture and supply many silicone seals in the form of washers, gaskets, strips, o-rings, cord and other extruded profiles, all designed to prevent the ingress and escape of air, moisture, dust and gas.
One of our more specialised grades of silicone is Electrically Conductive Silicone Rubber which is manufactured in thicknesses of 1.6mm, 2mm and 3.2mm at 915mm wide, and supplied in 1-meter widths up to 10 meters long from which seals can be converted.
Extruded bespoke seals are made using the raw rubber compound which is fed through a die (tool) in order to produce the seal. As each form of seal needs to be manufactured using a different process, ASG has invested heavily in various machinery meaning we can offer both high and low volume seals in virtually any shape or size.
What are Electrically Conductive Silicone Rubber Seals?
Conductive Silicone Rubber is a carbon filled silicone material that acts as a low amp conductor, often used for the prevention and protection of static charge (electrostatic discharge) build-up.
The generic term often used to describe a rubber material with conductive properties is ‘conductive rubber’. These materials and products are used for the purpose of eliminating electromagnetic interference and radio frequency interference (EMI/RFI noise) often found in electronics.
Electrically Conductive Silicone rubber seals are a device or substrate that is used to join surfaces together to either, acting as a separator or a body to prevent liquids, solids or gases from escaping or penetrating the application. Rubber seals can take the form of cut gaskets, strips, washers, extruded profiles and cords, which under compression, ‘hardens’ the material further to create a secure sealing property.
Many of our silicone seals can be supplied with a choice of self-adhesives which assists with the placement of the seal and holding it in position.

Why use Electrically Conductive Silicone Rubber Seals?
Electrically conductive silicone rubber seals can take countless forms and profiles, but as they’re produced using an identical material or material compound, they will still possess the same properties.
Electrically Conductive Silicone rubber is made using the same formulation as standard silicone rubber, but incorporating conductive carbon particles throughout the material.
Electrically Conductive Silicone rubber is an excellent material for producing high-performance mechanical seals which can operate at high and low temperatures, they offer weathering, UV and Ozone resistance, so ideal for indoor and outdoor use, have an operating temperature range of -54°C to + 260°, making it suitable for a range of industries and applications including electronic enclosure shielding, and connectors in medical, defence, aerospace and telecommunications.
Advantages of using Electrically Conductive Silicone Rubber Seals?
Customers often seek to use Electrically Conductive Silicone rubber for their sealing needs as the material has a number of excellent characteristics and features.
Silicone rubber has a broad working temperature range of -54°C to + 260°C for use in hot and cold environments meaning it will not become brittle in freezing temperatures unlike many other rubber materials and is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. It is resistant to weathering, ozone, many chemicals and fungal growth and offers excellent tensile strength and tear resistance.
Electrically conductive silicone rubber seals are available in standard and bespoke profiles, meaning they can be found used in many applications and industries where electro-static shielding is required including military, defence, medical and telecommunications in the form of enclosure seals, covers, door seals and isolation barriers.
