FDA approved silicone sponge rubber seals are available in the form of gaskets, washers, o-rings and extrusions, all designed to prevent air, fluid and gas leaks or the intrusion of dust and debris.  All our food quality silicone sponge rubber seals are made to order and available in almost any given size, shape or format, produced by using customers samples or drawings, ensuring the final product perfectly fits the application. 

As each form of seal is produced using a different process, ASG have invested heavily in various types of machinery, allowing us to offer high and low volume seals, including silicone sponge rubber seals for use within many different industries.

What are Food Quality Silicone Sponge Rubber Seals?

Food Quality Silicone sponge is a white coloured, closed-cell material with a medium density, unlike some ‘food safe’ materials available, Food Quality Silicone Sponge is fully FDA compliant to FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 standards for repeated use in the food industry and is also WRAS approved (Water Regulations Advisory Scheme) for use where there is contact with drinking water.   

Food Quality Silicone Sponge is platinum cured and only contains safe ingredients in its compound, which is taste and odourless so that they do not cause contamination.  FDA silicone sponge rubber seals are a device or substrate that is used to join surfaces together to either act as a separator or a body to prevent liquids, solids or gases from escaping or penetrating the seal.  

Our Food Quality silicone sponge rubber seals can take the form of cut gaskets, strips, washers, extruded profiles and cord, all manufactured using the same closed cell sponge which can be compressed, which in turn ‘hardens’ the material to create a secure seal, many of which can be supplied with a choice of self-adhesives which assists with holding the silicone sponge rubber seals in situ.

    Why use Food Quality Silicone Sponge Rubber Seals?

    Our food quality silicone sponge rubber seals are available in many different forms, but they all possess the same desirable properties.  Food Quality Silicone Sponge is fully tested by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), meaning these seals can be safely used in food, drink and pharmaceutical industries with products that are dry, wet or fatty. 

    Food Quality Silicone Sponge is a soft, compressible material, offering excellent thermal stability and sealing, vibration dampening and cushioning properties.  FDA Silicone Sponge offers excellent chemical resistance - but not suitable for use where certain solvents, oils or concentrated acids are present.
