Food Quality Neoprene Rubber Seals
Food Quality Neoprene Rubber Seals
Working with suppliers and manufacturers from across the world, Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd are able to offer a diverse range of neoprene seals in both rubber and sponge types, in the form of washers, gaskets, strips, extrusions and mouldings, all designed to prevent the ingress and escape of air, moisture, dust and gas, one of which includes food quality solid neoprene rubber seals.
Food Quality Neoprene Rubber, which is manufactured in roll form at 1.4meters wide x 10meters long and in thicknesses starting at 1.5mm, from which cut or pressed seals can be produced using machineries such as presses, CNC machines and strippers.
Extruded or moulded bespoke seals are made using the raw rubber compound which is fed through a die (tool) in order to produce the seal. As each form of seal needs to be manufactured using a different process, ASG has invested heavily in various machinery meaning we can offer both high and low volume seals in virtually any shape or size.
What are Food Quality Solid Neoprene Rubber Seals?
Food Quality Neoprene Rubber is a synthetic, white coloured, tasteless and odourless material that is used within the food, drink and pharmaceutical industries.
The bright colour allows for easy visibility of dirt or materials that may contaminate foods or drinks during production or packaging and can be used in high-temperature applications and where there will be contact with greases and animal/vegetable fats.
Food Quality Solid Neoprene Rubber seals are a device or substrate that is used to join surfaces together to either, acting as a separator or a body to prevent liquids, solids or gases from escaping or penetrating the application. Rubber seals can take the form of cut gaskets, strips, washers, extruded profiles and cords, which under compression, ‘hardens’ the material further to create a secure sealing property.

Why use Food Quality Solid Neoprene Rubber Seals?
Food quality solid neoprene rubber seals can take endless forms and profiles, but as they’re produced using an identical material or material compound, they will still possess the same properties. Food quality solid neoprene rubber is a high-quality material formulated to conform to FDA standards (Food and Drug Administration).
By meeting these standards, we can ensure these seals of material are safe for use in food, drink and pharmaceutical applications, where its colour helps with the detection of dirt and foreign bodies whilst protecting the ingredients from taste and odour contamination.
Food quality neoprene rubber is water-resistant and therefore does not support mould growth, it also offers resistance to high temperatures, oil and many chemicals.
Benefits of using Food Quality Solid Neoprene Rubber
- Suitable for food, drink and pharmaceutical applications
- Durable even at high temperatures
- Abrasion-resistant
- Impermeable to water therefore will not allow for mould growth
- Resistant to greases and animal/vegetable fat
- Good mechanical strength
Advantages of using Food Quality Solid Neoprene Rubber Seals
Food quality neoprene (CR) rubber seals demonstrate the same chemical characteristics of a standard grade neoprene rubber, but due to the addition of different additives and compounds, it has higher tensile strength and temperature resistance.
Food quality neoprene rubber seals are popular for use within the food, drink and pharmaceutical industries as their white colour allows for dirt or foreign object detection, it is odourless therefore protecting products from contamination and offers resistance to animal and vegetable fats, oils and greases.
Applications in which food quality neoprene rubber are often utilised include food, beverage and pharmaceutical processing and packaging, sealing gaskets or o-rings, oven seals and drink pumps, etc.
Different grades of Solid Neoprene
As ASG works with a network of material manufacturers and suppliers, we are able to offer customers a choice of neoprene rubber types to choose from, some of the most popular include:
Neoprene (CR) is one of our most popular solid rubber materials, with various thicknesses held in stock. Neoprene is suitable for use where there is exposure to grease, oil, acids, ozone and even seawater. Available in shore hardnesses of 40° – 80° Shore.
Flame retardant neoprene rubber sheets can handle continuous temperatures of -30°C to +100°C, this material meets the test requirements of the flammability standard UL94-V0 and is in line with ISO 340. Flame retardant neoprene rubber sheets are also tested in accordance with anti-static BS 490.
Neoprene insertion rubber (CR) Solid Neoprene is one of our most popular solid rubber materials, with various thicknesses held in stock. Neoprene is suitable for use where there is exposure to grease, oil, acids, ozone and even seawater.
