Advanced Seals & Gaskets produce some of the highest-quality seals in the UK, including gaskets, washers, O-rings, cord and extrusions, all designed to prevent leaks and the ingress of air, fluids and gas.
One such material from which we can produce seals is Nitrile rubber, which has good abrasion resistance and moderate tensile strength. The manufacture of nitrile seals involves advanced processes to ensure quality and customisation for each application. All our nitrile seals are made to order and are based on samples or drawings provided by customers to ensure the final product fits the application perfectly. Each item is assigned a unique code for tracking and ordering. As each seal type requires a different manufacturing process, ASG has invested heavily in various machinery, enabling us to produce both high- and low-volume nitrile seals.
These nitrile seals are also available on Amazon, where multiple sellers offer them. Customers can choose their preferred seller based on price and delivery options. Once an item is sold, its availability is updated accordingly.
Nitrile seals are ideal for the automotive industry. Nitrile rubber seals are primarily used in sealing applications in the automotive, aerospace and petrochemical sectors; however, they have poor resistance to ozone and weathering, so they are not recommended for outdoor use. The choice of nitrile rubber depends on what substances the seal will come into contact with, such as oil, fuel, or water.
What is a Nitrile Seal?
Nitrile rubber, also known as Nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR), is a synthetic rubber produced from a copolymer of acrylonitrile (ACN) and butadiene. Nitrile rubber seals are devices or substrates used to join surfaces and act as separators or barriers to prevent liquids, particles, or gases from escaping or penetrating the application.
Nitrile seals are a generic term for products that often take the form of cut gaskets, strips (versatile rubber elements used as sealing or cushioning components, customizable in material properties and dimensions, and suitable for industrial and automotive applications), washers, extruded profiles, and cord, all manufactured from the same material. Many of our nitrile seals can be supplied with a choice of self-adhesives to assist with placement and hold the seal in position.
Applications:
- Automotive and Transportation: Nitrile Seals are widely used in automotive components, including engines, transmissions, and fuel systems, providing reliable sealing in the presence of oil and fuel.
- Industrial Machinery: These seals are vital for machinery and equipment that require dependable sealing against oil, dust, and contaminants, reducing the risk of leaks and contamination.
- Manufacturing: Nitrile Seals are used in processes that involve oil-based fluids, chemicals, and environmental factors that could compromise sealing integrity.
- Oil and Gas Industry: These seals are valuable in the oil and gas sector, providing reliable sealing solutions for equipment exposed to petroleum-based fluids.
- Agricultural Machinery: Nitrile Seals are used in agricultural machinery, where resistance to oil and chemicals is essential for maintaining operational efficiency.
At Advanced Seals and Gaskets, we prioritise innovation and performance in our Nitrile Seals. Their excellent oil resistance and adaptability make them valuable across a spectrum of industrial applications. Choose Advanced Seals and Gaskets’ Nitrile Seals to elevate your industrial processes with top-tier sealing solutions that offer exceptional durability and reliability, particularly in environments where oil exposure is a concern.

Properties of Nitrile Rubber
Nitrile rubber, commonly known as NBR, is a synthetic rubber renowned for its excellent resistance to oil, fuel, and a wide range of chemicals. This makes it an ideal material for manufacturing oil seals, gaskets, o-rings, and other sealing products that require a watertight seal between two surfaces. Thanks to its good mechanical properties, including high tensile strength and outstanding abrasion resistance, solid nitrile rubber is suitable for demanding applications where durability and performance are essential.
One of the key advantages of nitrile rubber is its exceptional oil resistance, particularly valuable in the automotive, marine, and aerospace industries. Nitrile rubber is also resistant to acids, alkalis, and gases, making it a versatile choice for environments where exposure to aggressive substances is common. Its ability to maintain a reliable seal in contact with vegetable oils, mineral oils, and other challenging materials sets it apart from many other sealing materials.
Nitrile rubber is manufactured in a variety of thicknesses, widths, and hardness levels, allowing customers to choose the product that best suits their specific needs. It can be supplied in a range of colours, including black and blue, and is available in forms such as solid nitrile rubber strips, sheets, cords, and rings. These products can be cut to size to match the exact requirements of each application, ensuring a perfect fit and optimal sealing performance.
In addition to its use in oil seals and gaskets, nitrile rubber is widely used in the manufacture of O-rings, which are essential for creating a secure seal between two surfaces in a variety of mechanical and industrial systems. Its excellent resistance to abrasion and corrosion ensures long-lasting performance, even in harsh operating conditions. Furthermore, nitrile rubber is tasteless and non-toxic, making it suitable for use in food processing and pharmaceutical applications where safety and hygiene are critical.
Customers can find a wide range of nitrile rubber products from reputable sellers on Amazon and other online platforms, making it easy to buy the correct item for any application. When selecting a nitrile rubber product, consider factors such as required thickness, width, hardness, resistance to specific substances, and the intended use and environment.
Overall, solid nitrile rubber stands out as a reliable and versatile material for sealing applications. Its combination of excellent resistance to oil, fuel, and chemicals, along with good mechanical properties and adaptability, makes it an ideal choice for customers seeking high-quality sealing solutions across a broad range of industries.
Seals
Here at Advanced Seals & Gaskets, we offer seals in an array of materials such as EPDM, Silicone, Solid rubber, Cork, Plastics, Polyethylene, Polyurethane and PVC foam, to name just a few. Seals are designed to prevent leakages once compressed between irregular surfaces. Having the incorrect shape, size, or material would cause the gasket to fail. All of our seals are manufactured using specialised machinery, as we understand the final cut and finish of the seal needs to be perfect.
Why use Nitrile Seals?
There are many different forms and profiles of nitrile seals. Still, because they are made from the same material, they all share the same mechanical properties, making them a popular choice across many industries.
Nitrile rubber seal is an excellent material for creating air, dust, and water-tight seals, with good tensile strength, anti-abrasion properties, and resistance to petrol, mineral & vegetable oils, as well as some acids and alkalis.
The material has some flame retardancy and a working temperature range of -20°C to +70℃. Nitrile rubber seals are a popular choice for automotive belting, hoses, o-rings, and oil seals within hydraulics and flanges.
Advanced Seals & Gaskets has a network of material manufacturers, giving us access to various grades of nitrile rubber for many sealing applications. Some of the other grades include:
(British Standard ) BS 2751 Nitrile is a higher quality synthetic elastomer compared to commercial nitrile in terms of its improved elongation at break, tensile strength and resistance to a broader temperature range of -30°C up to +110°C. BS2751 nitrile is manufactured inshore hardnesses of 40° to 80°.
Blue Metal detectable nitrile rubber is a synthetic elastomer that is manufactured with an additive visible to metal detector scanners. This grade of material has excellent tear and abrasion resistance and is suitable for food, beverage, and pharmaceutical applications to detect and reduce contamination.
Food Quality (FDA) Nitrile rubber is available in white or blue colours, both conforming to EC & FDA regulations, for use within the food and pharmaceutical processing industries where the material needs to be resistant to vegetable oils, animal fats, fish oils, and greases.
