What are Ceramic Fibre Jointing Paper Sheets?
Ceramic Fibre Jointing Paper materials are manufactured using a combination of paper making techniques, ceramic fibre (alumina silicate) and organic binders. The binders are carefully selected to ensure they do not release unpleasant odours or toxins when they burn during application.
The process of manufacturing this material ensures an accurate thickness and uniform structure is formed to ensure the reliability of the product. Ceramic Fibre jointing paper is often taken in sheet form as they give the customer and end user the flexibility to be able to cut their own strips, gaskets, washers, etc out as and when they are required, saving them money on excess or wasted material.
Why use Ceramic Fibre Jointing Paper Sheets?
Using the right kind of sealing material is now more important than ever as there is more awareness and emphasis placed on health & Safety and the environmental effects of chemicals and emissions.
Ceramic fibre paper is used as it is an extremely flexible, lightweight material with a uniform fibre structure offering resistance to thermal shock, fire and provides exceptional tensile and dielectric strength. When used with naked flames, once ignited, the binding agents used will burn out, leaving the fibres behind which act as a thermal barrier at temperatures up to +1260°C.
Ceramic fibre jointing paper can be used as a replacement for asbestos (the original toxic type) such as for boiler or pipework insulation in very high temperature environments.
Advantages of using Ceramic Fibre Jointing Paper Sheets
Using sheets of Ceramic Fibre Jointing Paper offers a number of advantageous properties to its users, mainly its ability to perform in and withstand temperatures up to +1260°C, therefore suitable for use in applications where there is exposure to extremely high temperatures, open flames or sparks.
Ceramic Fibre Jointing Paper can be used as electrical or high-pressure insulation, refractory or hot top linings, heat shielding (crucial in the automotive and aerospace industries) and as shielding or high-temperature seals and wraps. Ceramic Fibre Paper is manufactured in a range of roll widths, lengths and thicknesses, making it suitable for cutting into a range of sheet sizes for covering large surfaces or for customers and end-users to cut out smaller components as and when they’re required.
