Commercial Insertion Rubber Sheets
Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd supplies high-quality commercial insertion rubber sheets, also referred to as SBR (Styrene-Butadiene Rubber) insertion sheets. These cost-effective sheets are reinforced with a mesh or fabric layer, offering enhanced tensile strength, tear resistance, and durability compared to standard commercial rubber.
Our solid commercial insertion rubber is manufactured in roll form (1.4m wide x 10m long) with thicknesses starting from 1mm. Using our on-site cutting and conversion facilities, we can supply sheets in 1-meter or 2-meter lengths, with bespoke sizes available on request. Sheets can be supplied plain or cut into various shapes, including washers, gaskets, strips, or pads, providing customers with flexibility for their specific applications.
What are Commercial Insertion Rubber Sheets?
Commercial insertion rubber sheets are based on SBR (Styrene-Butadiene Rubber) but include a reinforcement layer (insertion) running through the centre. This fabric or mesh layer prevents stretching and improves wear resistance, making it ideal for heavy-duty and industrial applications.
SBR compounds can also be blended with other polymers, such as:
- Neoprene (CR/SBR)
- EPDM (EPDM/SBR)
- Nitrile (NBR/SBR)
These blends can also be manufactured in insertion grades, offering additional chemical and weathering resistance, as well as greater tensile strength.
Sheets are often chosen for their versatility, allowing customers to cut and convert them into a wide range of components on demand.

Why Use Commercial Insertion Rubber Sheets?
Commercial insertion rubber offers a cost-effective, general-purpose solution with high tensile strength, impact resistance, and excellent abrasion resistance, even at low temperatures.
- Enhanced tear resistance compared to standard SBR
- Maintains flexibility in a temperature range of -20°C to +70°C
- Resistant to water, but not suitable for strong acids, hydrocarbons, grease, fat oils, or ozone
These sheets are commonly converted into parts for:
- Wear strips and impact pads in production lines
- Automotive components
- Scraper blades, hoses, belts, gaskets, and seals
Benefits of Commercial Insertion Rubber
- Excellent resilience and tensile strength
- Strong sealing capability against air, water, and diluted mixtures
- High abrasion and impact resistance
- Enhanced tear resistance due to reinforced insertion layer
- Flexible and cost-effective for general-purpose applications
Grades of Commercial Insertion Rubber
Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd offer a variety of grades, providing customers with more choice depending on the application:
- CR/SBR (Neoprene/SBR Insertion): Combines neoprene and SBR to create a durable, cost-effective material suitable for gap sealing, dust seals, and outdoor applications. Offers resistance to oils, grease, dilute acids, and alkalies.
- NBR/SBR (Nitrile/SBR Insertion): Combines nitrile and SBR to provide excellent resistance to fuels, petroleum, oils, and solvents, making it ideal for general-purpose industrial gasketing.
- EPDM/SBR Insertion: A hybrid of EPDM and SBR that offers high tensile strength, tear resistance, and excellent weathering and ozone resistance. Commonly used for pipe seals, weather strips, and dust seals.
Applications of Commercial Insertion Rubber Sheetsr
SBR insertion rubber sheets are widely used across industrial, automotive, and construction sectors, providing:
- Durable gaskets and seals
- Wear strips and impact pads.
- Hoses, belts, and scraper blades
- Custom-converted washers, pads, and strips
These sheets are preferred when reinforced material is required for high-tensile or high-wear applications, ensuring longevity and reducing the risk of material failure.
