Nitrile Insertion Rubber Sheets
Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd supply a wide range of high-quality solid rubber materials, including nitrile insertion rubber sheets. Manufactured in roll form, these sheets are 1.4 meters wide by 10 meters long, with thicknesses ranging from 1mm. They can be supplied as full rolls or cut to bespoke sizes. Customers can choose between plain and self-adhesive finishes through our in-house laminating services.
Nitrile-insertion rubber sheets offer excellent resistance to oils, fuels, and industrial chemicals, combined with high tensile strength, making them ideal for automotive, aerospace, and industrial applications.

What Are Nitrile Insertion Rubber Sheets?
Nitrile insertion rubber, also called reinforced NBR sheets, is a synthetic rubber material enhanced with a mesh or fabric reinforcement (the “insertion”) running through its centre. This reinforcement prevents stretching under tension, thereby increasing the material's durability, wear resistance, and mechanical strength.
Available in shore hardnesses from 40° to 70°, nitrile insertion sheets offer the same chemical and thermal resistance as standard nitrile rubber but with added reinforcement for demanding applications.
They are commonly used to create:
- Conveyor belts and transfer chutes
- Automotive and aerospace gaskets and seals
- Washers, pads, and insulating strips
- Oil, fuel, and chemical-resistant components
Why Use Nitrile Insertion Rubber Sheets?
Nitrile insertion sheets offer a combination of chemical, mechanical, and thermal resistance:
- Resistant to oils, fuels, solvents, and some acids/alkalis
- Excellent tensile strength and anti-abrasion properties
- Maintains performance under stretching or high-stress conditions
- Works in automotive and aerospace sealing applications
- Suitable for air, dust, and water-tight seals
The insertion layer ensures the material can withstand applications where stretch and wear would typically compromise standard nitrile sheets, such as in conveyor systems, transfer chutes, and belting.
Benefits of Nitrile Insertion Rubber
- High chemical resistance against oils, fuels, and solvents
- Waterproof and abrasion-resistant
- Excellent mechanical strength and durability
- Tear and stretch-resistant
- Ideal for automotive, industrial, and heavy-duty applications
- Can be cut into complex seals, gaskets, and components
Different Grades of Insertion Rubber
Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd work with a network of trusted suppliers to offer multiple grades of insertion rubber, including:
- SBR Insertion Rubber (Styrene-Butadiene Rubber): Commercial-grade, cost-effective, general-purpose rubber with good abrasion resistance. Not suitable for harsh chemicals, ozone, strong acids, or hydrocarbons.
- Neoprene Insertion Rubber (CR): Excellent for use with grease, oil, acids, ozone, and seawater, widely used in marine and industrial applications.
- EPDM Insertion Rubber (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer): Perfect for outdoor and exposed environments, resistant to UV, ozone, weathering, abrasion, and diluted acids.
Advantages of Using Nitrile Insertion Rubber Sheets
Solid nitrile insertion rubber is recognised for its ability to resist swelling under exposure to oils and fuels, maintaining sealing performance over time. This makes it a popular choice for:
- Automotive belting, gaskets, and oil/fuel seals
- Conveyor belts and transfer chutes
- Flange gaskets, isolating strips, and sleeves
- Applications in mining, quarrying, construction, oil & gas, and defence
Using nitrile insertion sheets is preferred when smaller quantities of custom parts are required, as it reduces waste and allows for efficient large-surface coverage.
