Flame Retardant Neoprene Foam Sheet
Flame Retardant Neoprene Foam Sheet
Flame retardant (FR) neoprene foam sheet is just one of many materials Advanced Seals & Gaskets offer from their vast catalogue of materials. Flamer Retardant neoprene foam is also sometimes from FR grade Neoprene or flame retardant neoprene sponge and is used to manufacture flame retardant neoprene sponge sheets.
This material itself is manufactured in block form at 2 meters long by 1 meter wide, which is then used to convert into finished usable products. Using state of the art machinery, we are able to split the blocks or buns down to sheets starting at as little as 1 mm, in a standard size of 1 meter wide by 2 meters long as standard, however as we carry out all our conversion onsite, we can manufacture these at longer or shorter lengths upon request.
Flame retardant neoprene sponge can be supplied as full flame retardant neoprene sponge sheets or cut and converted down into various other products such as gaskets, washers and strips, covered in a choice of adhesives or foils.

What Are Flame Retardant Neoprene Sponge Sheets?
Neoprene is also often referred to as polychloroprene or CR, it is one of many materials on offer from our vast catalogue. The FR or Flame Retardant grade is a grey coloured, closed cell, general purpose material is a very versatile and used to manufacture a number of our products, offering all of the properties of a standard neoprene such good weathering, oil and chemical resistances, but with the addition of being used as a flame resistant barrier for fire risk applications as it meet flammability tests of FMVSS302 / UL94-HF1.
Why Use Flame Retardant Neoprene Sponge Sheets?
Flame retardant neoprene sponge sheets or foam offers a range of desirable properties which means it can be used within countless applications.
Neoprene sponge sheets (FR grade) offer fair resistance to oils, acids and alkalis with good resistance to gases, UV, ozone, weathering and oxidation and its closed cell structure prevents the mould and fungus growth. They have a wide working temperature range of -40°C to +80℃ and are tested to Flame Resistance FMVSS302 and UL94-HF1 Pass.
Flame retardant neoprene sponge sheets can be converted into a range of products such as air and water tight seals, weather strips, cut into gaskets or washers or taken as a complete sheet for conversion by customers and end users as and when required.
Benefits Of Using Flame Retardant Neoprene Sponge
- Flame retardant neoprene sponge sheets are oil & chemical resistant
- Durable
- Flame retardant neoprene sponge sheets are UV, Ozone & weathering resistant
- Flame retardant
- Sound/vibration absorbing
- Closed cell which prevents bacteria & mould growth
Other Types of Neoprene Sponge Available
Advanced Seals & Gaskets work with a number of material manufacturers, meaning our customers benefit from a choice of neoprene grades:
Medium Density Neoprene sponge rubber is a versatile material, featuring good resilience and resistance to UV and ozone. It has a working temperature range of -40ºc to +115ºc, good chemical stability, and good general resistance to oils and petroleum-based fuels.
Firm Grade Neoprene sponge is also closed cell, fire resistance tested to FMVSS 302, and has a density of 180kg (+/- 25), meaning it can be used in more heavy duty applications, where less compression is needed to create a tight seal.
EPDM/Neoprene Blend sponge is an extremely versatile material, combining the properties of both types of sponge, excellent weathering and outdoor resistance of EPDM and the oil/chemical resistance of neoprene, making it the ideal choice for many outdoor sealing applications.
Please get in touch if you are unsure which grade of neoprene sponge you require for your gasket or would like samples for your own tests.
The Advantages of Using Flame Retardant Neoprene Sponge Sheets
FR or flame retardant neoprene sponge sheets are manufactured from a premium grade material, manufactured to offer all the properties and features of standard neoprene sponge, but also conforming to flammability tests UL94-HF1 and FMVSS302 for use in applications where the risk of fire is present.
The material itself is long lasting, with a wide operating temperature range which can be utilised for many indoor and outdoor applications. Under minimal compression, neoprene FR will provide an excellent dust, air and watertight seal as well as good resistance against oil.
Being a flexible and robust material, neoprene sponge sheets are often used in many applications in the form of components such as flame retardant seals, within transport, chemical seals and weather strips.
Flame retardant neoprene sponge is another of ASG’s core materials, held in stock as block ready to be split and supplied as neoprene sponge sheets, as the material hold adhesive well, these flame retardant neoprene sponge sheets can be coated with one of our many self adhesives or foils prior to despatch.
