Synthetic Cork Strip

Synthetic Cork Strip

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd are one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of synthetic cork strips. Our extensive range of materials and in-house production facilities allows us to supply high-quality cork strips cut to bespoke sizes, suitable for a wide variety of industrial and commercial applications.

Synthetic bonded cork is pre-manufactured in standard sheet and roll thicknesses, allowing for shorter despatch and conversion times, as the material does not require splitting before production.

Our state-of-the-art conversion facilities, including bandsaws, strippers, log cutters, and presses, allow us to manufacture strips in large quantities or as small, high-volume runs supplied in kiss-cut rolls. Coils and log-cut strips can also be supplied in lengths of 10 meters or more, depending on thickness.

In-house production ensures full control of the manufacturing process, guaranteeing consistent quality. Our synthetic cork strips can also be laminated with foils, self-adhesives, or other materials to meet specific customer requirements.

What are Synthetic Bonded Cork Strips?

Synthetic bonded cork is made from a mixture of cork granules and synthetic rubber, producing a darker, speckled appearance. The addition of rubber enhances resilience and flexibility, making it suitable for use with fuels, oils, and other liquids, while providing a watertight seal.

At ASG, we manufacture bespoke synthetic cork strips to order, based on customer samples, drawings, or dimensions, ensuring the correct length, width, thickness, and finish.

Why use Synthetic Bonded Cork Strips?

Synthetic bonded cork strips are commonly used as gaskets or washers to:

    • Seal against dust, air, gas, and moisture

    • Fill gaps and irregularities between uneven surfaces

    • Reduce unwanted noise and vibration

Synthetic bonded cork is flexible, compressible, and compatible with many fluids, with moderate resistance to weathering, acids, and fungal growth. These properties make it ideal for automotive, industrial, and fluid-handling applications, especially where exposure to oils, chemicals, or liquids is expected.

The Advantages of Using Synthetic Cork Strip

At ASG, we stock a variety of cork roll materials, allowing for fast despatch and conversion. Our in-house manufacturing ensures bespoke cork strips can be produced quickly in a range of finishes.

Using synthetic cork offers numerous advantages:

    • Thermal insulation

    • Noise and vibration absorption

    • Sealing against air, water, and chemical leaks

    • Chemical inertness

    • Resistance to fungus and mould growth

    • Anti-static properties

    • Flexibility and durability

Cork is easy to cut, holds adhesives well, and adapts to most surfaces, making it perfect for gap filling, sealing, and protective applications.

    Different Grades of Cork Available

Alongside natural cork, ASG supplies several synthetic cork grades for specialised applications:

    • Neoprene Bonded Cork – Resistant to high temperatures, oil, and weathering. Ideal for oil, engineering, electrical, anti-vibration, and soundproofing applications.

    • Resin Bonded Cork – Lightweight and flexible, resilient to certain acids, commonly used in water-retaining applications.

    • Nitrile Bonded Cork – Combination of cork and nitrile rubber, giving a speckled appearance. Suitable for oil, fuel, and high-temperature applications, widely used in automotive and engineering.

    • Natural Cork – Granulated cork bound with liquid binder. Cost-effective for coasters, simple air/dust/water seals, thermal insulation, acoustic, and anti-vibration applications.

Synthetic cork strips from Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd are durable, versatile, and customizable, making them ideal for a wide range of sealing, cushioning, and protective applications across multiple industries.
