Silicone Rubber Strip
Silicone Rubber Strip
Silicone rubber strips are manufactured by Advanced Seals & Gaskets in both sponge and rubber form, all manufactured using some of the latest state of the art machinery. Silicone rubber is manufactured in rolls at various thicknesses which are used to cut strips.
Silicone rubber strips are just one of thousands of products we are able to produce at in-house, which are all made to order, manufactured using one of our many machines including band saws, strippers, log cutters and even presses depending upon the size and quantity required - for very small strips in high volume runs, a kiss-cut option may also be available for faster production and time efficiency for the end user.
On-site production allows us to closely oversee the whole production process to ensure that we consistently produce high quality, competitively priced strips. ASG stock a range of silicone rubber in a number of thicknesses ensuring strips can be produced and despatched within a minimum timeframe.

What is a Silicone Rubber Strip?
Silicone (SI) rubber is an excellent material for producing high performance mechanicals sealing and insulation strips which can operate at high and low temperatures. Silicone rubber strips are pieces of material often cut to a specific width and length as requested by our customers, in some cases available as continuous coils to be cut down as when needed by the end user, often used in a similar way to a gasket placed between two surfaces to create a seal, provide cushioning or insulation.
Why use Silicone Rubber Strips?
Silicone rubber is often chosen by customers for their strip production as the material has a number of excellent characteristics and features. Silicone rubber strips have a broad working temperature range for use in hot and cold environments, with high temperature versions also available for extreme heat.
Silicone rubber strips are resistant to UV, weather and ozone, many chemicals and fungal growth, they also offer excellent tensile strength, tear resistance, electrical insulating properties and are available in a number of thicknesses and grades including food safe and flame retardant types.
Different Grades
Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd have a network of material manufacturers and suppliers, giving our customers more choice, our most popular grades being:
- High Temperature Silicone - FDA approved and suitable for working conditions up to 300°C
- FDA Approved Silicone - all general purpose silicone are certified for use within food, drink & pharmaceutical applications
- Metal Detectable Silicone - used to detect metal fragments
- Fluorosilicone - this material offers the same mechanical properties as standard silicone, but with an improved fuel and mineral oil resistance.
- Platinum cured Silicone - this non-yellowing translucent material offers a high tear strength and does not produce any peroxides or ketones.
- Conductive Silicone is a carbon filled silicone which conducts a low electrical amperage
- Flame retardant offers a more superior flame retardance, meeting the following standard for railways BS6853 Cat1A and French Norm NFF 16-101 (now superseded by TS EN 45545-2)
Benefits of Using Silicone Rubber
- Resistant to weathering, UV, ozone and chemicals
- Can be used in food and pharmaceutical applications
- Available in a choice of colours, hardnesses and grades
- Can be easily cut or moulded into bespoke parts such as seals, washers, gaskets, etc
- Available in a range of thicknesses
- Flame retardancy and electrical insulating properties
Advantages of Using Silicone Strips
Silicone rubber strips offer an extensive list of advantages and excellent characteristics, silicone rubber has a broad working temperature range of -40℃ to +200°C making it suitable for use in hot and cold environments, with high temperature versions also available for extreme heat levels.
Silicone rubber strips are resistant to ozone, weathering, sea water, many chemicals and fungal growth, they also offer excellent tensile strength, tear resistance and electrical insulating properties.
Solid silicone rubber strips are available in a range of colours and hardnesses (the shore hardness is measured using a shore durometer which indicates the level of resistance to indentation, the higher number on the scale indicates a greater resistance - harder the material/lower number indicates less resistance- softer the material). The material is also manufactured in different grades which add extra properties for use in specific applications such as high temperatures, food and flame retardancy.
