Neoprene Insertion Rubber Strip
Neoprene Insertion Rubber Strip
When it comes to sealing or gasketing strips, ASG offers a full range of sponge, foam, plastic, cork and rubber materials, stocking many of them in roll form ready for despatch or conversion. One type of solid rubber being Neoprene Insertion Rubber, which is manufactured in roll form usually at 1.4meters wide x 10meters long and in thicknesses starting at 1.5mm, from which strips can be cut. Neoprene Insertion rubber strips are all manufactured by our highly skilled workforce using state of the art machinery, following our customers samples or drawings.
We can produce made to measure neoprene insertion rubber strips using our band saws, strippers, log cutters and even presses depending upon the size and quantity required. In-house production allows us to closely oversee the whole production process to ensure that we consistently produce high quality, competitively priced strips.
Our neoprene rubber strips are cut from rolls, which are manufactured in a range of standard thicknesses starting at just 1mm, these can be supplied coated with a self adhesive backing or laminated to other materials, which can then be cut into strips from 4mm wide and in a choice of 10mtr coils or pre-cut lengths.

Key Characteristics of Solid Neoprene Insertion Rubber:
- Colour: black
- Shore Hardness: 70°C
- Temperature: -20°C up to +110°C
- Resistances: suitable for most oils, greases, water, ozone, moderate chemicals and acids.
- Applications: Gaskets, pipe flanges, chute liner, sleeves, container seals
What Are Solid Neoprene Insertion Rubber Strips?
Neoprene Insertion Rubber (or polychloroprene / CR) is a synthetic rubber, black in colour manufactured to the same specification as standard neoprene rubber but is produced with a mesh/fabric reinforcement layer running through the centre referred to as the ‘insertion’.
The reinforcement gives these cut strips of economy grade material, an even higher tensile strength and wear resistance, whilst still maintaining good chemical stability and maintains its natural flexibility over a wide range of temperatures, it is highly durable as the material holds a high tolerance to extreme weathers and conditions, with good resistance to oil, chemicals and ozone.
Why Use Solid Neoprene Insertion Rubber Strips?
Neoprene Insertion Rubber material is manufactured using the same formulation and compound as standard neoprene rubber, but is improved with the addition of a mesh/fabric reinforcement layer running through the centre which increases the durability of the material.
This 'insertion' or reinforcement also prevents the material from stretching and increases its wear and tear resistance when used for physically demanding applications and during conversion. Neoprene insertion rubber strips have a good resistance to chemicals, UV, ozone/weathering and moderate resistance to oils (animal/vegetable) and inorganic salts.
They have a wide working temperature range of-20°C to +110℃ and excellent abrasion properties. Neoprene insertion rubber strips are a popular choice for outdoor applications and sealing components within the construction and automotive industries for use as window/door seals, within pumps, hydraulics and flanges. Or for electrical insulation applications.
Benefits Of Neoprene Insertion Rubber
- Popular for internal / external applications
- Increased durability and tensile strength compared to standard neoprene
- Impermeable to water and dust
- Moderate resistance to oil, chemical greases and fats.
excellent resistance to ozone, weathering and ageing - Can be converted into a range of products
Grades Of Insertion Rubber Available
NBR/SBR insertion (Nitrile) is manufactured using nitrile rubber and SBR compounds to create a material suitable for general purpose gasketing. This commercial grade rubber offers resistance to fuels, petroleum, oils and many solvents making it suitable for use within a variety of industrial applications.
EPDM/SBR insertion rubber is another hybrid made up of 2 different compounds. This particular grade of material offers good resistance to weathering and Ozone deterioration and provides properties such as a high tensile strength and tear resistance. Commercial grade EPDM rubber is typically used for applications such as pipe seals, weather strips and dust seals.
SBR Insertion rubber (Styrene-butadiene rubber) is a cost effective, commercial grade, general purpose rubber with good abrasion resistance, tensile strength and low compression set. SBR rubber is not suitable for applications involving chemicals, ozone, very strong acids, grease, fat oils and hydrocarbons
Advantages Of Neoprene Insertion Rubber Strips
Neoprene insertion rubber strips are popular amongst a range of industries due the number of excellent properties they offer. Neoprene insertion rubber strips are used where a more durable, strong, abrasive material is required in an environment where exposure or sealing against extreme weather, water , salts, oil grease, UV/Ozone and gases is necessary.
This material maintains its flexibility across a wide temperature range and keeps its chemical resistance properties even in very hot or cold environments. Neoprene insertion rubber is held in full rolls and sheets, allowing for a quick and easy turnaround of cut strips, which can be used for a broad range of physically demanding applications from boating, marine sealing and insulation - through to being cut into flange gaskets, belts and sleeves.
Using rolls of material allows customers to take longer strips or coils of up to 10 meters in length, or to have very small strips of just a few centimeters cut from them.
