Neoprene / EPDM Sponge Strip
Neoprene / EPDM Sponge Strip
At Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd neoprene/EPDM blend sponge strips is one of the most popular products we manufacture, sometimes also sometimes called gasket strip, gasket tape, weatherstrip, glazing strip and foam tape. As neoprene/EPDM blend sponge strips is one of our core stock materials, strips can be turned around within a minimal lead time using sheets or rolls split directly from block, all manufactured by our highly skilled workforce using state of the art machinery.
By following our customer's samples, drawings or given dimensions, we can produce made to measure neoprene/EPDM sponge strips using our band saws, strippers, log cutters and even presses depending upon the size and quantity required. In-house production allows us to closely oversee the whole production process to ensure that we consistently produce high quality, competitively priced strips.
Our neoprene/EPDM sponge strips are cut from sheets or rolls split down to thicknesses starting at just 1mm thick, we can produce strips from just 4mm in width and from a few millimetres long up to 50meters in length (depending on thickness). During our conversion process, we can laminate layers of neoprene/EPDM blend sponge to produce greater depth and supply the final strips with a plain or self-adhesive backed finish.
What are Neoprene/EPDM blend sponge strips?
ASG produce Neoprene/EPDM blend sponge strips using a high-quality, closed-cell material suitable for a variety of sealing applications similar to the way a gasket is used. This blended sponge rubber blend is becoming more popular and in many cases replacing pure EPDM and Neoprene as an excellent general-purpose material at a lower cost.
EPDM blend sponge strips are a highly durable, multipurpose product capable of withstanding heavyweight, absorbing vibrations, therefore excellent for use where anti-vibration and acoustic insulation properties are required. It is also UV, water and air resistant which makes it an ideal product to use with the production of solar panels, construction and other outdoor/watertight sealing applications.
Neoprene/EPDM blend sponge strips can be manufactured in any size, from around 1mm thick and 4mm wide in pre-cut lengths or in a continuous coil/roll of 10mtrs or more, with a choice from a range of finishes including foils, self-adhesives or laminated with other materials.

Why use Neoprene/EPDM Blend Sponge Strip?
Neoprene/EPDM blend strips are manufactured using a high-quality blend of chemicals - Polychloroprene (Neoprene) and Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM), a high-quality blend of chemicals combination of which created a highly versatile material suitable for applications where a stable, flexible and durable material is required.
Strips produced using this material offer UV resistance, ozone exposure and weathering, its closed-cell and non-porous making it dust, air and water-resistant, has excellent ageing properties, good resistance to acid – however poor resistance to oil. Neoprene/EPDM blend has a wide working temperature range of -40º to + 85º and has flame retardant properties conforming to classification UL94 HF1.
Neoprene/EPDM blend sponge strips are ideal for both internal and external applications for example heating & ventilation, white goods, electrical enclosures, gaskets, sealing strips, weather strips, etc
Different Grades
Advanced Seals & Gaskets work closely with a number of high-quality material manufacturers and stock a number of grades of neoprene sponge alongside the blended variety, giving our customers more choice, these neoprene variations include medium density, firm and flame retardant grades.
Medium Density Neoprene sponge has a closed-cell structure creating an air, dust and watertight seal, it has excellent ageing properties, being resilient to ozone, sunlight, oxidation and UV exposure and not becoming brittle over time. Neoprene sponge strips are resistant to oil, chemically inert, flame retardant and have a wide working temperature range of -40°C to +115°C
Firm Grade Neoprene sponge strips are fire resistance tested to FMVSS 302, and have a density of 180kg (+/- 25), meaning they can be used in more heavy-duty applications, where less compression is needed to create a tight seal.
Flame Retardant Neoprene strips are grey in colour, can handle continuous temperatures from -40°C to 115°C and subject to more vigorous fire testing ( FMVSS 302, UL94, AFNOR P9750), this makes the material ideal for use within construction and transport applications where a flame-resistant barrier may be required.
The Benefits of Neoprene/EPDM Blend Sponge Strip
- Closed-cell material which prevents bacteria/mould growth
- EPDM blend sponge strips are available in a range of sizes and finishes
- Good weathering, UV & Ozone resistance
- Sound/vibration absorption properties
- EPDM blend sponge strips are durable and robust
- Seals against dust, air and moisture
The advantages of using Neoprene/EPDM blend sponge strips
There are many advantages to using neoprene/EPDM blend sponge strips in your project, not only does it have excellent sealing capabilities under compression, its closed cell structure prevents the growth of bacteria and mould, it has noise and vibration insulation properties and will easily hold a number of self-adhesives, foils and other coverings.
Neoprene/EPDM blend sponge strips have a wide operating temperature range and both the mechanical and chemical properties of both materials. As this material is stocked in block form, we can split the material down into any desired thickness starting from just 1mm, or laminate layers of material to create a greater depth where required, our range of cutting machines also gives customers a choice of widths and lengths.
