Viton Sponge Strip
Viton Sponge Strip
Here at Advanced Seals & Gaskets, we manufacture 1000’s high-quality sponge strips, including those manufactured from Viton sponge, sometimes referred to as sealing strip, gasket strip or isolation strip. Viton sponge strips are all manufactured by our highly skilled workforce using state of the art machinery, following our customer's samples or drawings.
We can produce made to measure Viton sponge strips using our band saws, strippers, log cutters and even presses depending upon the size and quantity required. In-house production allows us to closely oversee the whole production process to ensure that we consistently produce high quality, competitively priced strips.
Our Viton sponge strips are cut from rolls or sheets, which are manufactured in a range of standard thicknesses starting at 3.18mm, these can be supplied coated with self-adhesive backing or laminated to other materials, which can then be cut into strips from 4mm wide and in a choice of pre-cut lengths or in coils in lengths of up to 10meters long.
What are Viton Sponge Strips?
Sponge strips are often purchased for use in the same way as a gasket, whereby they are used to create a seal between uneven surfaces and fill irregularities. The viton sponge is one of many closed-cell materials on offer from Advanced Seals & Gaskets, which is used where a high-performance sponge is required for extreme environments.
The material is manufactured in roll form, in thicknesses ranging from 3.18mm to 19.05mm, with a skin on both faces, designed to improve tear resistance from which Viton sponge strips are cut in widths starting from 4mm and supplied in pre-cut shorter pieces or in rolls up to 10meters long in a plain or self-adhesive finish.

Why use Viton Sponge Strips?
Customers use Viton sponge strips for many reasons, and it is often a go-to material for applications requiring a high-performance product to meet the demands that cannot be achieved using other polymers such as EPDM or Neoprene.
Not only is Viton sponge tear resistant due to its skin finish, but it also has a wide working temperature range of -20°C to +210°C and is resistant to chemicals, fuel, ozone, weather, lubricants, animal/vegetable oils and hydrocarbons.
These properties mean this material can be used for high temperature sealing such as within engine bays and other automotive applications, but also in applications requiring acoustic and vibration dampening in construction and resistance to oils, acids and other chemicals.
Benefits of Viton Sponge Strips
- Environmental resistance (ozone/weather0
- High Chemical Resistance
- Weather & hot water resistant
- High-Temperature Range
- Fuel, oil, lubricant resistance
- Withstand Challenging Environments
Advantages of Using Viton Sponge Strips
There are many advantages to using Viton sponge strips, the material is a high performance, versatile and durable, with increased strength from the skins, providing tear and puncture resistance. Being a closed cell sponge, even without the skins, the material will not allow the ingress of air or fluid into its cell structure.
Viton sponge strips are available in a range of standard pre-manufactured thicknesses, which can be split down or laminated to achieve non-standard thicknesses where required, the high resistance and durability of Viton sponge means the strips can be easily cut into the desired profile without the risk of tearing or stretching the material and supplied in a plain or self-adhesive backed finish.
