Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd manufacture and supply washers using many different materials, including a range of plastics, available in numerous grades, colours and thicknesses. Cut and pressed Polyester Washers make up just a small proportion of the thousands of products produced using Polyester plastic.
Polyester washers or PET Polyester resins combine excellent mechanical, electrical and thermal properties with very good chemical resistance and dimensional stability. Polyester and the washers cut from them also offer low moisture absorption and have good flow properties. Polyester washers materials used in our conversions can be manufactured in a standard grade, but also in glass-reinforced and flame retardant variants all of which can be used for washer production - these specialist grades are designed for use in applications where a higher strength or heat resistance is required.
Polyester Plastics can be supplied in a range of sheet sizes up to 3050 x 2050mm and in thicknesses between 0.8 and 6mm as standard from which washers can be cut, but material can also be moulded into bespoke washers which require a specific finish or textures surface etc. Using one of our many on-site presses or our oscillating knife, we are able to convert Polyester washers into bespoke sized washers, which can be supplied plain or coated in a choice of self adhesives or foils.

What are Polyester Washers?
A Polyester Plastic Washer is a flat ring shaped piece of material which is placed between two surfaces or between joints in order to reduce friction and prevent unsteadiness, creating a level surface for nuts, bolts and other fixings to rest on, improving the fit for fixings and can be used as a water or air tight seal.
Polyester Washers are produced using either samples, drawings or dimensions provided by customers, which would detail the Outer Diameter (OD), Internal Diameter (ID) and the Thickness, manufactured in a plain or self-adhesive finish. Polyester Washers are cut from sheets of material which is also called PET or (polyethylene terephthalate).
These pads are a popular product providing high dimensional stability, excellent mechanical strength and good resistance to creep, a material produced by reacting terephthalic acid with ethylene glycol. Polyester is a thermoplastic which means these pads and the raw compounds can be repeatedly melted and reformed which is why the material is also easily recyclable. Polyester washers offer resistance to chemicals, provide very low moisture absorption and are a good electrical insulator. Due to the materials good creep strength, low moisture absorption and outstanding dimensional stability, Polyester Plastic Washers are suited to applications where complex parts with dimensional accuracy and surface quality are needed.
Why use Polyester Washers?
The range of plastic washers on offer from ASG are each formulated using a mix of different compounds in order to produce material and washers with specific properties. Polyester Washers are made using a high density plastic material combining excellent mechanical, electrical and thermal properties with good chemical resistance and dimensional stability.
Polyester Washers offer dimensional stability and high moisture absorption - where the washers can’t be cut or pressed from a flat sheet, they can also be extruded or moulded into bespoke shapes and profiles with a choice of textures, finishes and surfaces.
Polyester Washers have good electrical properties, heat and aging resistance, low creep, good colour retention, and wear resistance. Polyester washers can be used where there is exposure to dilute acids, oils and greases and alcohol, UV and a number of chemicals offering an operating temperature range of -20°C up to +115ºC.
