WRAS EPDM Washers
WRAS EPDM Washers
Here at Advanced Seals & Gaskets, we produce 1000’s of washers from a variety of materials including special types such as WRAS solid EPDM rubber. EPDM rubber is available in a range of grades and hardnesses, one of which includes WRAS approved EPDM (Water Regulations Advisory Scheme) which is suitable for contact with wholesome water and is commonly used in applications involving water for human consumption.
This material is manufactured in roll form at 1.4mtrs wide x 10mtrs long and thicknesses starting at 1mm from which washers can be cut. WRAS EPDM washers are manufactured on-site using drawings or measurements provided by our customers, with whom we work closely to ensure the final product is to their exact specification.
Depending upon the size and quantity of washers required, one of many presses or CNC machines can be used to manufacture the final product - from one-off samples to multiple thousand batches runs, we have a machine designed to quickly and accurately produce perfectly formed washers every time.
What are WRAS solid EPDM Rubber Washers?
WRAS approved EPDM rubber has been specially formulated and manufactured as a safe material for use within potable water applications for human consumption, adhering to BS6920-1:2000 and BS 6920-1:2014 'Suitability of non-metallic materials and products for use in contact and with water intended for human consumption with regard to their effect on the quality of the water'.
WRAS approved EPDM is manufactured with a cloth impression on both faces and offers an impervious surface ensuring water remains contained. WRAS EPDM washers are a flat ring with an outer diameter (OD) and inner diameter (ID) measurement, cut from a sheet of material which is placed between two surfaces creating a level surface, acting as a spacer, seal or between nuts and bolts to spread the pressure when tightened.

Different Grades Availble
Advanced Seals & Gaskets work with many material manufacturers and suppliers, giving our customers more choice when looking for specialist EPDM materials, other specialist grades of solid EPDM include:
FDA grades - Food quality EPDM is available in blue and white options. This synthetic material is suitable for use in food and pharmaceutical processing applications. Food quality EPDM offers good resistance to animal and vegetable oils, iis non-toxic and has a working temperature of -25°C up to +140°C.
Peroxide Cured - Vulcanising or curing EPDM using peroxide (as opposed to Sulphur) produces a more superior material with higher temperature resistance, heat resistance and improved oil and chemical resistance, this material is suitable for demanding applications such as nuclear facilities.
