Industrial Sponge Washers

Industrial Sponge Washers

At Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd, we are proud to be one of the UK’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of non-metallic washers, offering a comprehensive range of specialist sponge materials, including open-cell industrial sponge (also known as Sorbo sponge or open-cell natural industrial sponge).

Our industrial sponge washers are manufactured from rolls of varying lengths, with standard thicknesses ranging from 3mm to 25mm and a skin finish on both faces. Using our in-house facilities, these washers can be cut to your exact requirements, ensuring a high-quality, cost-effective solution.

Manufacturing Process

All industrial sponge washers are produced in-house using a combination of skilled craftsmanship and high-spec machinery. Depending on the size, thickness, and quantity required, washers are cut using either our oscillating knife or one of our many presses.

Washers are made from samples, drawings, or customer-specified dimensions, detailing the outer diameter (OD), inner diameter (ID), and thickness. They can be supplied as plain, self-adhesive, or foil-faced, either as individually cut parts or kiss-cut on a roll for convenience.

What Are Industrial Sponge Washers?

Industrial sponge washers are made from open-cell natural rubber sponge, manufactured with a patterned skin and open-cell structure. This design offers:

  • Excellent compression recovery

  • Air and fluid circulation, where required

  • Softness and flexibility for a variety of applications

A washer is a flat piece of material placed between two surfaces or joints to reduce friction, prevent unsteadiness, and provide a level surface. Industrial sponge washers also act as a waterproof or airtight seal, improving the fit of nuts, bolts, and other fixings.
