What is Fibre Jointing Leatheroid?
Fibre jointing materials are produced using fibre strands that are held together by a resin. This allows different fibres to be used to determine the products' compressibility, temperature range, and strength. We can supply fibre jointing Leatheroid in pre-cut finished parts or in roll form allowing our customers to produce their own products, as and when required. Due to its ability to block electrical current, Leatheroid is often used in industrial and domestic electrical appliances and as an insulator in transformers and motors.
Why use Fibre Jointing Leatheroid?
Fiber jointing materials are chemical and oil-resistant and offer a wide temperature range and high tensile strength, making them suitable for a variety of applications. With the increase in awareness of environmental and health and safety issues, it has become increasingly important for many industries to ensure that the right type of gaskets and sealing materials are being used.
To achieve a variety of properties, fibre jointing materials such as Leatheroid are manufactured using different fibres and binder compositions. These are designed to meet an array of requirements related to temperature, compression, insulating and chemical resistance.
Different Types of Fibre Jointing Leatheroid
Here at Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd, we work closely with a network of suppliers and manufacturers to ensure we offer a wide variety of products while keeping lead-times to a minimum. Fibre jointing materials available from us include:
- Betaflex: This is a cellulose-based fibre material, made using a nitrile binder. This material offers excellent tensile strength, low compressibility, good elastic recovery and erosion resistance.
- Ceramic Fibre: This material is constructed using ceramic fibres and an organic binder, designed for extreme temperature applications reaching up to 1250℃. Ceramic fibre materials offer excellent strength, flexibility, excellent insulating properties and thermal resistance.
- Gasket Paper: This material has a high resistance to petrol, oil and water, and is therefore often utilised within automotive applications.
Benefits of using Fibre Jointing Leatheroid?
- Excellent electrical strength
- Mechanical resistance
- Highly durable
- Flexible
- Increased electrical strength (12kv per millimetre) when bonded with polyester film
- High dielectric strength
- Cost effective
- Lightweight feel
Advantages of using Fibre Jointing Leatheroid
Leatheroid is a lightweight and cost-effective material suited to a range of applications where sealing, spacing and electrical insulation is required. A strong, durable material, offering excellent mechanical resistance, Leatheroid also prevents electrical arcing, making it an ideal choice in applications where electrical insulation is required.
Furthermore, our Leatheroid products can be manufactured with temperature considerations up to 100 degrees centigrade and offers excellent mechanical resistance.
