WRAS Solid EPDM Rubber
Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd offer EPDM rubber in a range of grades and hardnesses, one of which includes WRAS approved solid EPDM rubber (Water Regulations Advisory Scheme) which is suitable for contact with wholesome water and is commonly used in applications involving water for human consumption.
This material is manufactured in roll form at 1.4mtrs wide x 10mtrs long and thicknesses starting at 1mm. Advanced Seals & Gaskets can supply this material in full rolls and sheets, or pre-cut into usable WRAS solid EPDM rubber gaskets and strips which are produced using customers drawings or samples on one of our specialist machines.
What is WRAS Solid EPDM Rubber?
WRAS approved EPDM rubber has been specially formulated and manufactured as a safe material for use within potable water applications for human consumption, adhering to BS6920-1:2000 and BS 6920-1:2014 'Suitability of non-metallic materials and products for use in contact and with water intended for human consumption with regard to their effect on the quality of the water'.
This material offers excellent resistance against ozone, weathering and ageing deterioration which makes it suitable for indoor and outdoor environments. WRAS approved EPDM is manufactured with a cloth impression on both faces and offers an impervious surface ensuring water remains contained.

Why use WRAS Solid EPDM Rubber?
WRAS approved solid EPDM rubber has an operating temperature range of -40º TO + 120ºC and for wholesome water of up to +23ºC. It has excellent resistance to weathering, ozone and ageing as well as excellent resistance to acids and bases making it suitable for use in many indoor and outdoor applications.
WRAS approved solid EPDM rubber is often cut into gaskets, seals or washers to seal pipework or water dispensers, but due to its impervious surface, it can be used as a lining for water storage and transportation keeping it contained and protected from contamination, it also has a good tensile strength making it suitable for use in more physically demanding applications such a water pumps and protective barriers.
WRAS approved solid EPDM rubber can be supplied with a self-adhesive backing and is easy to convert into usable components such as pressed gaskets, washers and strips.

Different Grades
Advanced Seals & Gaskets work with many material manufacturers and suppliers, giving our customers more choice when looking for specialist EPDM materials, other grades of solid EPDM include:
FDA grades - Food quality EPDM is available in blue and white options. This synthetic material is suitable for use in food and pharmaceutical processing applications. Food quality EPDM offers good resistance to animal and vegetable oils, it's non-toxic and has a working temperature of -25°C up to +140°C.
Peroxide Cured - Vulcanising or curing EPDM using peroxide (as opposed to Sulphur) produces a more superior material with higher temperature resistance, heat resistance and improved oil and chemical resistance, this material is suitable for demanding applications such as nuclear facilities.
