Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd are proud to be one of the UK’s leading suppliers of polyethylene materials and products including rolls, sheets and cut parts. We have a huge storage facility enabling us to stock polyethylene rolls, blocks and sheets in a range of densities, grades, colours and thicknesses, other names sometimes used to describe this material are block foam, polyethylene sponge or PE foam. Some polyethylenes are manufactured in standard thicknesses as continuous rolls, whereas others are converted into rolls from blocks using our state of the art splitting machines, meaning we can supply sheets in thicknesses starting at as little as just 1.5mm. Our onsite laminating service enables us to supply polyethylene foam with a choice of finishes including plain or coated on one or both faces with a range of self-adhesives, foils and even layers of other materials.
What is Polyethylene Foam?
Polyethylene foam is a high quality, lightweight closed-cell material, it is a great material with a number of resistances and insulation properties as well as being available in a variety of grades, densities, colours. Polyethylene can be taken in full rolls and sheets, or cut into finished usable parts such as strips, gaskets, washers, etc. Some types of Polyethylene are manufactured or extruded in a roll form, others are converted in-house from blocks of material that are fed through our splitting machines to create rolls and sheets at a desired thickness and length.
Why use Polyethylene foam?
Polyethylene foam materials are manufactured in a range of grades and densities offering various properties for use in different applications. Polyethylene foam materials have a low compression set, resistance to water, oils, chemicals and weather as well as being an excellent thermal insulation material. Being a closed-cell material, it has good tear resistance and doesn’t support mold or fungus growth. Variants of polyethylene foam include FDA grades for use with food, beverage and pharmaceutical applications, Flame Retardant and anti-static.
Grades
Having a network of manufacturers and suppliers, allows ASG to offer a full range of polyethylene materials, many of which are readily available from stock for a quick turnaround. Below is just a selection of some of our popular polyethylene material types we can offer:
- Alveo
- Anti-static
- Ethafoam
- Eva foam
- Flame retardant
- Chemically cross-linked
- Plastazote
- Stratocell
Benefits of Using Polyethylene Foam
Using polyethylene foam materials offer a huge number of benefits, it’s a non-toxic, high quality, lightweight material, which has good water, ozone, UV, weathering, grease and chemical resistance. Polyethylene has a wide operating temperature range, with higher temperature and flame retardant variants also available. Due to the number of grades on offer, polyethylene foam can be found in most applications where weather-resistant, acoustic and thermal insulation and tight sealing is required.
