10PPI Reticulated Polyurethane Foam
10PPI Reticulated Polyurethane Foam
Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd is a leading supplier and converter of various polyurethane materials, including Reticulated Polyurethane Foam.
Reticulated Polyurethane foam, often known as 'Filter foam' or Skeletal Foam, is characterized by its open cellular structure, with different sizes of pores per inch (PPI). These PPI sizes range from 10PPI, which is coarse, to 100PPI, which is more compact. In its raw form, 10PPI retic foam is produced in large blocks or 'buns' that we keep in stock. These blocks can be split into sheets or joined to create continuous lengths or rolls of material.
Our in-house conversion capabilities allow us to manufacture and supply 10PPI retic foam products, starting from a minimum thickness of 5mm. These products can take the form of sheets, rolls, or finished cut items such as gaskets, washers, pads, and strips. They can be supplied in a plain finish, coated with various foils or self-adhesives, or laminated with other materials to create composites.

What is 10PPI Reticulated Polyurethane Foam?
The term 'Reticulated' aptly describes 10PPI reticulated foam, as it features a net-like structure. This foam has a coarse texture and a highly open-cell appearance due to its low number and large-sized pores, allowing it to act as a quick-drying sieve that permits the free passage of liquids. It is lightweight and characterized by completely open cells with a skeletal, mesh-like structure, making it excellent for trapping dust and particles.
Why use 10PPI Reticulated Polyurethane Foam?
10PPI Reticulated PU Foams exhibit outstanding water resistance, making them well-suited for both air and moisture filtration applications. This coarse-grade foam boasts a high surface area and porosity, rendering it an excellent choice for use in speakers, air conditioning units, vacuum cleaner components, fuel tanks, and scrubbing pads. Despite its highly open-cell structure, 10PPI foam can be easily compressed, reducing the flow of air and liquid through the material.

Advantages of Using 10PPI Reticulated Polyurethane Foam
There are numerous compelling reasons to choose 10PPI Reticulated Foams. This versatile, open-cell material is lightweight, low in odor, and highly resistant to mold and mildew. Crafted from polyurethane foam with a flame retardant additive to meet FMVSS302 standards, it offers excellent chemical and fuel resistance, as well as good elongation and tear strength properties, suitable for a wide range of industries and applications. When compressed, 10PPI Retic foam undergoes a transformation, altering its breathability, porosity, and liquid passage rate.
Its net-like structure acts as a sieve, ensuring it does not absorb water and dries quickly, distinguishing it from other PU foam grades. Reticulated foams come in two types: Polyether and Polyester, with ASG offering the readily available Polyester type. This Polyester reticulated foam can also be produced as an FR grade with a flame retardant additive, meeting FMVSS302 standards, making it ideal for demanding applications.
Reticulated PU foams are available in various densities, pore sizes, colors, and shapes, including die-cut parts, egg-box profiles, and glued or welded tubes and cylinders. They resist mild acids and alkalis, saltwater, fuel, organic chemicals, oils, lubricants, soaps, and detergents. Common applications include liquid and air filtration, sound absorption in situations where noise management is essential (e.g., aircraft, industrial equipment), fluid management in cosmetics and medicine, and cleaning products for scrubbing and wiping.
