BS1154 Solid Rubber
Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd are leading suppliers of solid rubber offering a whole range of materials one of which includes BS1154, which is a Natural Rubber manufactured and tested to meet British Standard BS1154.
As with most solid rubber materials, this product is manufactured in roll form usually at 1.4 meters wide, in 10-meter lengths and in a range of thicknesses starting at 0.5mm. BS1154 rolls are held in stock and can be supplied as entire rolls, cut down to sheets or converted into usable parts such as gaskets, washers, pads and strips.
What is BS1154?
BS1154 is a type of solid natural rubber (NR), manufactured using naturally occurring latex from the ‘rubber tree’, which is used in higher quantities in high-grade natural rubbers such as BS1154.
BS1154 features high tensile strength and good abrasion resistance, which can be purchased as pre-cut parts or as a full roll of material and are ideal for the production of parts used where a strong robust material resistance is required including making it suitable for applications in the most demanding environments such as for use within government, military and construction applications.

Why use BS1154?
BS1154 natural solid rubber meets British Standard BS1154, which means the material has excellent physical properties and is suitable for use in very demanding applications. BS1154 offers excellent tensile strength and elongation at break, plus is highly abrasive and tear-resistant with a wide operating temperature range of -20°C to+70°C. BS1154 can be used for the production of seals, washers, gaskets, pads and strips, all offering resistance to water, mild chemicals or acids, ozone, and electrical currents.
Benefits of Using BS1154
- Excellent elongation at break and tensile strength
- Manufactured to comply with British Standard 1154
- Offers good resistance to mild chemicals, electrical currents and water
- Available in a range of hardnesses and thicknesses
- Popular for construction and military applications
- Abrasion and tear-resistant
Different Types of BS1154 Available
Shore Hardness: 40°, 50°, 60°, BS1154 natural rubber can be produced in a range of hardnesses from 40°- 60° shore (the shore hardness is measured using a shore durometer which indicates the level of resistance to indentation, the higher number on the scale indicate a greater resistance - harder the material/lower number indicate less resistance- softer the material)
White BS1154 Natural rubber - this material offers the same list of excellent mechanical properties, but white in colour meaning it can be used in the production of components that can be utilised within the food and drink production and packaging industries.
