Medium Grade PVC Foam
PVC Foam materials are available in various grades one of which includes Medium Grade PVC Foam. Medium Grade PVC is a closed cell, low density foam which has a number of excellent mechanical properties, used widely for sealing and insulation. Medium Grade PVC Foam is manufactured and stocked in roll form with a choice of thicknesses between 3mm and 20mm, roll widths of 1 meter or 1.4 meters and rolls lengths of up to 130 meters long depending on the thickness, which can be used to cut down into finished products. As we offer in-house conversion and lamination services, we can not only split PVC materials down to enable us to offer non-standard thicknesses, but we can also laminate layers together and apply a choice of self-adhesives or foil facings. Our onsite facilities consists of a number of presses, log cutters, strippers, bandsaws and CNC machines from which we can produce a number of PVC Foam products including gaskets, washers, strips, pads and fabrications.

What is Medium Grade PVC Foam?
PVC Foam or polyvinyl chloride is made up of PVC and Polyurea compounds which are combined, heated until it expands and then cured, creating a closed cell, low density foam, designed to seal against air, dust and liquids. Medium Grade PVC Foam as the name suggests is a mid range density foam, which is stronger than its soft grade counterpart, easier to cut and convert.
Why use Medium Grade PVC Foam?
Medium density PVC Foam offers all the mechanical properties of other PVC Foam which include UV resistance, low level water absorption, dimensional stability and can be used to construct seals against air, dust and liquids, offering conformability, wear resistance and allows for easier and cleaner cuts during conversion. PVC Foams are lightweight, flame retardant and durable, with the medium grade offering flexibility and strength, its perfect for use as moisture, air and dust seals, gasket production, roofing seals, cushioning, refrigeration seals and much more.
Different Grades of PVC Foam Available
Having a network of manufacturers and suppliers, allows ASG to offer a full range of PVC materials, many of which are readily available from stock for a quick turnaround. Below is just a selection of some of our popular polyethylene material types we can offer:
- Fast Recovery
- Fruit Selection (Dual Density)
- Slow Recovery
- Soft Grade
- Firm Grade
Benefits of Using Medium Grade PVC Foam
- Lightweight
- Flexible and conformable
- Can be laminated or split to non-
- standard thicknesses
- Good thermal insulation
- Flame retardant
- Can be easily cut into a range of products
- Excellent dust, air and moisture seal
Advantages of Using Medium Grade PVC Foam
Using Medium grade PVC Foam offers countless advantages over other foams including good acoustic, flammability properties and resistance to ozone, UV, rot and mould growth and solvents making them popular for use in sealing, insulation and cushioning applications such as rooflight seals, glazing pads, refrigeration seals, face mask strips, gaskets, or transportation pads.
The flexibility and conformability of the material allows it to be used to create a tight-fitting and secure seal between two uneven surfaces, allowing the material to be used without too much pressure to be applied and causing damage to the foam, but still being firm enough to accurately cut and convert. Medium Grade PVC is available in a range of pre-manufactured thicknesses, ready to be shipped or cut down in usable finished products such as gaskets, washers, strips or pads where they are utilised in the automotive, construction, electronics, HVAC and stationery industries.
