Polyethylene Foam
Polyethylene Foam Strips
Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd are proud to be one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of polyethylene foam strips, which consists of a varied choice of polyethylene material grades and densities each with its own unique properties to meet particular applications and levels of demand. Polyethylene foam strips are all made to order, manufactured using state of the art machinery including band saws, strippers, log cutters and even presses depending upon the size and quantity required – for very small strips in high volume runs, a kiss-cut option may also be available for faster production and time efficiency for the end-user. In-house production allows us to closely oversee the whole production process to ensure that we consistently produce high quality, competitively priced strips. As our strips are produced in-house, we can customise them to offer a choice of finishes including foils, self-adhesives or cutting them from composite sheets where polyethylene is laminated to other materials.
What are Polyehylene Foam Strips
Strips are pieces of material often cut to a specific width and length as requested by our customers, in some cases available as continuous rolls/coils to be cut as when needed by the end-user, often used in a similar way to a gasket placed between two surfaces to create a seal, provide cushioning or insulation. Polyethylene foam gaskets are manufactured from a high quality, lightweight closed-cell material. Polyethylene is a great material for using gaskets as it is flexible, has a number of resistances and insulation properties as well as being available in a variety of grades, densities, colours, often also referred to by customers as foam strip, foam tapes or gasket tape.
Why use Polyethylene Foam Strips?
Polyethylene foam strips come in a range of grades and densities offering a range of properties for different applications. Polyethylene foam strips have a low compression set, resistance to water, oils, chemicals and weather as well as being an excellent thermal insulation material. Being a closed-cell material, it has good tear resistance and doesn’t support mold or fungus growth. Different variants of polyethylene include FDA grades for use with food, beverage and pharmaceutical applications, Flame Retardant and anti-static.
Grades
Having a network of manufacturers and suppliers, allows ASG to offer a full range of polyethylene strips in various types, densities and colours, many of which are readily available from stock for a quick turnaround. Below is just a selection of some of the popular polyethylene materials we can offer:
- Alveo
- Anti-static
- Ethafoam
- Eva foam
- Flame retardant
- Chemically cross-linked
- Plastazote
- Stratocell
Benefits of Polyethylene Foam Strips
Using polyethylene foam strips offers a huge number of benefits, it’s a non-toxic, high quality, lightweight material, which has good water, ozone, UV, weathering, grease and chemical resistance. Polyethylene has a wide operating temperature range, with higher temperature and flame retardant variants also available. Due to the number of grades on offer, polyethylene foam gaskets can be found in most applications where weather-resistant, acoustic and thermal insulation and tight sealing is required. Most of our polyethylene materials are kept as stock in either block or roll form allowing a quick conversion and supply turnaround time. Polyethylene foam is an easy material to cut into strips that can be supplied coated with a range of self-adhesive tapes.
