Abrasive Resistant Polyurethane Pads
Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd manufactures and supplies Abrasive Resistant Polyurethane Pads using both solid and high-density sponge polyurethane materials. Polyurethane is one of the key materials in our pad production, available as solid rubber or as a dense microcellular sponge, also known in the trade as “Dynathane.”
Solid abrasive-resistant PU is produced in roll form across a range of thicknesses. At the same time, PU sponge is supplied in blocks or sheets (approximately 250mm x 500mm x 65mm and 250mm x 1000mm x 65mm), from which pads can be precisely cut to specification.
Regardless of size or quantity, our range of presses, bandsaws, and CNC machines allows us to produce one-off samples or large batch runs, from single pads to thousands of units. Depending on requirements, pads can be supplied as loose cut parts or kiss-cut on rolls for high-volume assembly line use.

What are Abrasive Resistant Polyurethane Pads?
Abrasive Resistant Polyurethane Pads are produced using precision in-house machinery, including saws, presses, and CNC equipment. This enables the creation of square, rectangular, circular, oval, or disc-shaped pads, with options for radius corners and a range of thicknesses.
Abrasion refers to the wear caused when a material comes into contact with another surface. These PU pads are designed for physically demanding environments, providing exceptional resistance to wear, mechanical impact, scraping, grinding, and corrosion.
Solid PU sheets are available in Tan, Red, White (FDA), and Black (Snow Plough), each suited to different industrial applications. PU sponge (Dynathane) is a microcellular, hard-wearing material that is lightweight, flexible, and offers high impact strength, along with excellent resistance to abrasion and tearing. It is easily identifiable by its off-white colour.
Why use Abrasive Resistant Polyurethane Pads?
Abrasive Resistant Polyurethane Pads are ideal for applications where surfaces are exposed to friction, rubbing, or mechanical wear. Selecting the correct PU material ensures:
- Extended material life, resisting wear and erosion
- Reduced risk of product or component failure
- Cost savings due to less frequent replacement
- Protection against mechanical impact, scraping, and grinding.
Different grades of PU offer varying chemical resistances, temperature ranges, and mechanical properties, ensuring that every application can be matched with the ideal material. Our expert team can advise on the best grade for your specific needs.
Different Grades
We offer a wide selection of abrasive-resistant polyurethane materials for pad production:
- PU Sponge (Dynathane) – Lightweight, flexible, and hard-wearing. Offers high impact strength, excellent resistance to abrasion and tearing, densities from 450kg/m³ to 650kg/m³, operating temperatures -40°C to +80°C. Typical applications include tank linings, anti-vibration mounts, gaskets, buffers, and noise reduction.
- Red Abrasion Resistant PU Pads – Durable natural rubber, ideal for quarry linings, slurry handling, fabricated parts, and tank or silo linings.
- White Abrasion-Resistant Rubber – Softer compound suitable for food processing equipment, chutes, and hopper liners. Resistant to ketones, organic acids, alcohols, and aldehydes; not recommended for animal fats, petroleum, vegetable oils, or most hydrocarbons.
- Tan Shotblast Rubber – Extremely robust, offering excellent abrasion resistance. Used in chute linings, shot blast cabinets, gaskets, and seals. Moderate resistance to diluted acids and weak chemicals; not suitable for solvents, petroleum, or concentrated acids.
Advantages of Using Abrasion-Resistant Polyurethane Materials
- Suitable for physically demanding applications
- High resilience to wear and tear
- Provides surface protection against impact, scraping, and corrosion
- Cost-effective, reducing replacement and maintenance frequency
- Can provide additional benefits, including ozone, UV, oil, and chemical resistance, depending on grade
- Versatile: can be used as pads, sheets, or gaskets for machinery and equipment.
