Abrasive Resistant Polyurethane Sheet
Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd stocks a wide range of polyurethane raw materials and supplies them as cut sheets for customers requiring smaller quantities, sampling, or low-volume production. Sheets can also be converted into strips, gaskets, and washers, reducing waste and maximising efficiency.
Our Abrasive Resistant Polyurethane Sheets are part of a broad catalogue of industrial products. They are available as solid rubber sheets or high-density PU sponge (also known as “Dynathane”). Solid abrasive-resistant polyurethane is typically supplied in roll form. It can be cut into sheets, while the high-density sponge is manufactured in blocks (approximately 250mm x 500mm x 65mm and 250mm x 1000mm x 65mm), which can be split into thinner sheets as required.
The thickness options depend on the material: solid rubber comes in standard thicknesses, whereas the sponge can be split to order. Standard solid PU sheets are available in 1.4m wide by 1m or 2m long, while sponge blocks are smaller and can be supplied full-size or cut down into pads, strips, gaskets, or washers.

What are Abrasive Resistant Polyurethane Sheets?
Abrasive Resistant Polyurethane Sheets come in two main variants: solid rubber and high-density sponge.
- Solid PU Sheets are typically manufactured in continuous rolls 1.4 meters wide and 5–10 meters long. Our in-house facilities allow these rolls to be cut into 1m or 2m sheets, in a choice of thicknesses. Available colours include Tan, Red, White (FDA), and Black (Snow Plough).
- PU Sponge (Dynathane) is a microcellular, hard-wearing material resembling solid rubber. Lightweight and flexible, it has high impact strength and excellent resistance to abrasion and tearing, identifiable by its off-white colour.
These sheets are ideal for applications where mechanical wear, friction, or impact could otherwise damage materials.
Why use Abrasive Resistant Polyurethane Sheets?
Abrasion refers to the wear and tear caused when materials come into contact with other surfaces. Abrasive-resistant polyurethane is engineered to withstand heavy use, protecting components from scraping, grinding, impact, and erosion.
By using abrasive-resistant PU sheets, you can:
- Extend the lifespan of components
- Reduce the risk of product or material failure.
- Lower maintenance and replacement costs
- Provide surface protection in high-friction environments.
These sheets are ideal for applications where repetitive mechanical stress or impact is a factor.
Different Grades
We offer a variety of abrasive-resistant polyurethane materials to suit specific industrial needs:
- PU Sponge (Dynathane) – Hard-wearing, flexible, high impact strength, excellent abrasion and tear resistance. Operating temperature –40°C to +80°C, densities 450–650 Kg/m³. Used in tank linings, anti-vibration mounts, gaskets, buffers, and noise reduction.
- Red Abrasion Resistant Rubber – High-quality natural rubber designed for abrasion and tear resistance, used in quarry linings, slurry handling, gaskets, and seals.
- White Abrasion-Resistant Rubber – Softer compound for food processing applications, chutes, hopper liners, and gaskets. Resists ketones, organic acids, alcohols, and aldehydes, but not recommended for animal fats, petroleum, or most hydrocarbons.
- Tan Shotblast Rubber – Extremely durable natural rubber with excellent abrasion resistance, suitable for chute linings, shot blast cabinets, gaskets, and seals. There is moderate resistance to diluted acids and weak chemicals.
Advantages of using Abrasion-Resistant PU Materials
- Ideal for physically demanding environments
- Extremely resilient to wear and tear
- Protects against mechanical impact, scraping, grinding, and corrosion
- Cost-effective, as a longer-lasting material reduces the risk of component failure
- Can offer additional properties, including ozone, UV, oil, and chemical resistance (depending on grade)
- Versatile for use as sheets or converted into gaskets and pads for machinery and equipment.
