What Are Alveo Foam Strips?
Alveo foam strips are cut or rolled lengths of physically cross-linked, closed-cell polyethylene foam. Produced from polyolefins (ethylene and propylene thermoplastics), Alveo is manufactured in a three-stage process: extrusion, crosslinking, and vertical foaming via polymerisation.
The foam is available in continuous sheets or rolls, and can be cut to size or supplied as coils for end-user processing.
Alveo foam strips are widely used as:
- Gaskets to seal gaps between uneven surfaces
- Anti-vibration and acoustic insulation
- Cushioning or protective spacers
Why Use Alveo Foam Strips?
Alveo polyethylene foam is soft, flexible, and odourless, with a fine, regular closed-cell structure. The material offers:
- Low water absorption
- Excellent vapour permeability
- Resistance to chemicals, ozone, and UV
- Flame-retardant options available
Alveo foam strips fill gaps and irregularities, reduce noise and vibrations, seal against air, gas, dust, and liquids, and provide cushioning between moving parts to prevent damage. Effective sealing requires the foam to compress fully, creating an airtight and protective seal.
Advantages of Using Alveo Foam Strips
Alveo foam strips provide numerous benefits for industrial, automotive, construction, and manufacturing applications:
- Highly durable and resilient
- Resistant to chemicals, moisture, and weather
- Excellent thermal and acoustic insulation
- Wide operating temperature range: -80°C to +100°C
- Lightweight and easy to handle
- Odourless and inert
