Alveo Rolls
Alveo Rolls
One of the most popular material types available from Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd is Polyethylene, available in numerous grades, densities and colours, which can be supplied as a range of products including rolls. One such type is Expanded Cross Linked Closed Cell Polyethylene, which is also sold under the trade names Alveolit® or Alveo, used to manufacture alveo rolls.
This physically cross-linked, closed-cell polyethylene foam is produced in densities of 33kg, 67kg and 100kg in continuous alveo rolls lengths in thicknesses between 2mm to 10mm, however, as we carry out all our conversion on-site, we can manufacture or cut these down to bespoke widths and lengths, or join alveo rolls together for longer lengths, we can also use state of the art splitting machinery to split rolls of Alveo down or laminate layers together so that we can offer countless non-standard thicknesses to order.
Alveo rolls can be supplied either plain or laminated with a choice of one of our many self adhesives, foils or other materials.
What are Alveo Rolls?
Alveo is a physically crosslinked, closed-cell polyolefin (a family of polyethylene and polypropylene thermoplastics) foam produced in continuous sheets in a three-stage process: extrusion, crosslinking, and vertical foaming produced by the process of polymerisation of ethylene and propylene using oil and natural gas.
Alveo polyethylene is manufactured in a range of densities, in black (anthracite) or white colour options and with the advantage of being easily split or laminated in order for us to offer non-standard thicknesses. Alveo rolls is manufactured and supplied in continuous lengths of material, in roll lengths of up to 75 to 100 meters depending on the material thickness.

Why use Alveo Rolls?
Alevo polyethylene foam is manufactured in roll form, the material has a fine regular close cell structure that is soft and flexible, with skin on both faces. It is manufactured in a range of standard thicknesses, but can easily be split or laminated to create non-standard thickness, and converted into a range of products including gaskets.
Alveo polyethylene foam offers low water absorption, excellent vapour permeability with good chemical, ozone and UV resistance. It’s an odourless material, offering a wide operating temperature range which can also be manufactured and supplied in a flame retardant grade.
Alveo rolls are often taken for covering large surfaces or to cut very long lengths of sealing strip, use with sealing against dust, air and moisture, gap-filling between uneven surfaces or for reducing unwanted noise and vibration.
This soft compressible foam creates an excellent seal as its closed-cell and easy to compress, which is essential for an effective gasket where they are needed to fill deformities and gaps. Alveo rolls can also be taken in full by customers giving them the freedom to cut their own sheets and parts out for use or resale as and when they’re required.
Advantages of using Alveo Rolls
Using Alveo polyethylene rolls offer countless advantages, the material is highly durable and resistant, inert to many chemicals, weather-resistant and has excellent insulation properties and a wide operating temperature range of -80°C to +100°C.
These qualities make Alveo highly desirable in a variety of applications such as padding, protection and cushioning with automotive, construction and manufacturing.
Alevo polyethylene is manufactured in continuous rolls, in a range of roll widths and thicknesses, however, the material can be easily converted into a range of converted parts such as sheets, pads and sealing strips or taken in full rolls, giving customers the freedom to cut their own parts as required.
