Flame Retardant Polyethylene Foam Strip
Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd are one of the UK’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of Flame Retardant Polyethylene Foam Strips, converting hundreds of foam blocks into finished products every month.
With extensive storage facilities, we stock large quantities of flame retardant polyethylene blocks, rolls, and sheets in a variety of densities — all ready for conversion. This enables us to keep production lead times short while maintaining exceptional quality control.
Flame retardant polyethylene foam is also known as FR-PE foam, flame retardant block foam, LDPE-FR (low-density polyethylene foam), or flame retardant polyethylene sponge. These foams can be split down to thicknesses as low as 1.5mm and are available in 2m x 1m sheets or continuous rolls, ideal for converting into flame retardant polyethylene foam strips, foam tapes, or gasket strips.
Our state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment — including band saws, strippers, log cutters, and presses — allows us to produce tailored flame retardant foam strips to meet any specification. For small strips or high-volume orders, kiss-cutting options are also available to improve production efficiency and reduce waste.
In-house manufacturing enables us to oversee every stage of production, ensuring consistent quality and competitive pricing. Our on-site laminating service allows for a range of finishes, including plain, self-adhesive, foil-backed, or laminated to other materials.

What Are Flame Retardant Polyethylene Foam Strips?
Flame retardant polyethylene foam strips are precision-cut foam components designed to specific widths and lengths according to customer requirements. Available as continuous rolls or coils, they can be cut to size by the end user and are often used as gaskets, sealing strips, or cushioning materials.
As a chemically cross-linked thermoplastic foam, polyethylene offers excellent resistance to impact, water, and chemicals while providing thermal and acoustic insulation. Our flame retardant variants include densities such as 25kg, 30kg, 45kg, 60kg, and 100kg, allowing flexibility for different applications and performance needs.
The density of the foam influences its strength, compression resistance, and resilience — denser foams provide greater durability and load-bearing capacity. All grades are available in standard 2m x 1m blocks, which can be split into sheets or rolls and converted into finished flame retardant PE foam strips or tapes.
Why Use Flame Retardant Polyethylene Foam Strips?
Flame retardant polyethylene foam strips provide versatile sealing and protection solutions. They are commonly used to:
- Fill gaps and irregularities between uneven surfaces
- Prevent rattles, noise, and vibration
- Seal against air, gas, dust, and liquids
- Create fire-resistant seals
- Cushion between moving parts to reduce wear and friction
During the manufacturing process, flame retardant additives are integrated into the polyethylene compound. This enhances its fire resistance, allowing it to slow down flame spread or self-extinguish when exposed to open flames — ideal for safety-critical environments.
These foams also offer resistance to ozone, UV, water, oils, and chemicals, feature a smooth closed-cell surface that discourages mould and fungus growth, and maintain stability within a temperature range of -60°C to +90°C.
Advantages of Using Flame Retardant Polyethylene Foam Strips
Polyethylene foam is a cost-effective and reliable material choice for producing flame retardant sealing and insulation components.
Because most grades are stocked in bulk, production lead times are kept short, allowing us to deliver custom flame retardant foam strips quickly and efficiently. Starting from as little as 1.5mm thick, sheets and rolls can be converted into strips tailored to your exact requirements.
The material’s closed-cell structure provides a durable barrier against liquids, gases, and particulates, while its flame retardant properties add an extra layer of protection for use in demanding environments such as construction, HVAC, electrical, and automotive industries.
