Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd work with a wide network of material manufacturers, enabling us to offer gaskets cut from a vast range of high-quality sponge and solid silicone materials, one of which is Food Quality Silicone Sponge. FDA approved Silicone Sponge is usually manufactured in continuous rolls up to 10 meters in length, with skin on both faces and in thicknesses ranging from 1.5mm up to 12mm from which silicone sponge gaskets can be cut.
Food quality silicone sponge gaskets are produced in-house, meaning we can manufacture bespoke items to match our customer's samples or drawings, from a simple rectangular picture frame gasket, to a more complex shape with cut-outs, notches or bolt holes, whether it’s a small sample batch or a multi-thousand run, we have a machine designed to quickly and accurately produce perfectly formed silicone sponge gaskets every time.
Our onsite facilities house a range of state of the art conversion machinery including a range of presses, CNC machines, slitting machines and log cutters, enabling us to take these sheets and cut them into gaskets of any shape and in most sizes, for very large gaskets, they can be fabricated using multiple sheets and made up in sections and put together in a similar way to pieces of jigsaw puzzles.
What are Food Quality Silicone Sponge Rubber Gaskets?
Food quality silicone sponge is a white coloured, closed-cell with a medium density, unlike some ‘food safe’ materials available, Food Quality Silicone Sponge is fully FDA compliant to FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 standards for repeated use in the food industry and is also WRAS approved (Water Regulations Advisory Scheme) for use where there is contact with drinking water.
Food quality silicone sponge is platinum cured and only contains safe ingredients in its compound, which are taste and odourless so that they do not cause contamination.
Food quality silicone sponge gaskets can be made in the form of a strip or pad, but are generally an intricately cut shaped piece of material placed between two surfaces to create a low-pressure seal preventing the leakage of liquids or gas and to seal against the intrusion of dust and debris and to reduce excessive movement or vibration between components.

FDA silicone sponge gaskets offer excellent chemical resistance - but are not suitable for use where certain solvents, oils or concentrated acids are present.
