Food Quality Nitrile Rubber Sheet
Food Quality Nitrile Rubber Sheet
Here at Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd, we offer a number of grades of high-quality solid rubber rolls including blue and white food quality solid nitrile rubber (NBR) (used to manufacture food quality solid nitrile rubber sheets).
As with most solid grade materials, this one is also manufactured in roll form at 1.4meters wide x 10meters long, starting at 1mm in thickness, however, these can be cut down and supplied as food quality solid nitrile rubber sheets at 1.4meters wide x 1 meter or 2 meters in length.
Our on-site conversion facilities also enable us to cut down into sheets and usable finished products such as washers, gaskets, strips and pads, with a choice of self-adhesive or foil facings, all of which can be manufactured here using our in-house conversion and laminating facilities.
What are Food Quality Solid Nitrile Rubber Sheets?
Food quality nitrile rubber is a high quality synthetic, tasteless and odourless material available in blue or white variants which are used within the food, drink and pharmaceutical industries.
The material is manufactured in roll form but can be cut down into food quality solid nitrile rubber sheets at 1-meter or 2-meter lengths for customers who require small amounts of material, or who prefer food quality solid nitrile rubber sheets for easier transport and storage.
Food quality nitrile rubber offers excellent resistance to animal fats, vegetable/fish oils and greases, as well as higher tensile strength and resistance to high temperatures compared to standard grades.

Why use Food Quality Solid Nitrile Rubber Sheets?
Food quality solid nitrile rubber is a high-quality material formulated to conform to FDA standards (Food and Drug Administration).
By meeting these standards, we can ensure these sheets of material are safe for use in food, drink and pharmaceutical applications, where its colour helps with the detection of dirt and foreign bodies whilst protecting the ingredients from taste and odour contamination.
Food quality solid nitrile rubber sheets is water-resistant and therefore does not support mould growth, it also offers resistance to high temperatures, oil and many chemicals.
Benefits of food quality nitrile rubber
- Water, mineral, oil, petrol and abrasion-resistant
- Can be formed into complex seals and extrusions
- Food quality solid nitrile rubber sheets have a wide working temperature range
- Resistant to animal, fish and vegetable oils and greases
- Taste and odourless so will not contaminate food/drink
- Food quality solid nitrile rubber sheets are Excellent for food/drink/pharmaceutical processing and packaging
Advantages of using food quality nitrile rubber Sheets
Food Quality Nitrile rubber is FDA approved ensuring that the food quality solid nitrile rubber sheets and products cut from them don’t contaminate or affect the smell and taste of any food or drinks it comes into contact with.
Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd are able to offer Food quality nitrile rubber in complete sheets for customers to cut down for use as they please or alternatively we can cut the sheets down into a wide variety of products including gaskets, strips and washers, all of which are available in white or blue depending on the colour of the product it is being used with.
This high-quality material provides excellent resistance to animal fats, fish & vegetable oils and greases, confirms with EC and FDA standards and offers a number of good mechanical properties including high tensile strength, abrasion and temperature resistance.
Popular applications for food quality solid nitrile rubber sheets include machinery belts for food processing and packaging, seals, gaskets, protection pads and tubes or sleeves.
Different grades of Solid Nitrile rubber
As ASG works with a network of material manufacturers and suppliers, we are able to offer customers a choice of nitrile rubber types to choose from, some of the most popular include:
Standard solid Nitrile rubber (NBR) is a synthetic rubber with good tensile strength, anti-abrasion properties and resistance to petrol, mineral & vegetable oils and some acids and alkalis, the material also has some flame retardancy, and a working temperature range of -20°C to +70℃ ideal for the production of parts used where oil resistance is required including fuel hoses, automotive seals, gaskets and even rollers within the printing industry.
(British Standard ) BS 2751 Nitrile is higher quality synthetic elastomer compared to commercial nitrile in terms of it’s improved elongation at break, tensile strength and resistance to a broader temperature range of -30°C up to +110°C. BS2751 nitrile is manufactured inshore hardnesses of 40° to 80°.
Blue Metal detectable nitrile rubber is a synthetic elastomer that is manufactured with an additive visible to metal detector scanners. This grade of material has excellent tear and abrasion resistance and is suitable for food, beverage and pharmaceutical applications as a way of detecting and reducing contamination.
Blue Food Quality (FDA) Nitrile rubber has all the qualities of the white FDA silicone rubber, as it conforms to EC & FDA regulations, for use within food and pharmaceutical processing industries where the material needs to be resistant to vegetable oils, animal fats, fish oils and greases. The blue coloured rubber is preferred for applications where white rubber cannot be clearly seen through the food or drink produce.
