Flame Retardant Neoprene Foam Sheet
Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd offer a wide selection of high-quality Flame Retardant (FR) Neoprene Foam Sheets, part of our extensive material catalogue. This material, also referred to as FR grade neoprene or flame retardant neoprene sponge, is used to manufacture versatile neoprene sponge sheets for a range of industrial and commercial applications.
Our FR neoprene foam is manufactured in block form (2m x 1m) and converted into sheets or bespoke products using state-of-the-art machinery. Blocks can be split into sheets starting from 1mm thickness, in standard dimensions of 1m x 2m, or tailored to custom sizes on request.
Flame retardant neoprene sponge can be supplied as full sheets or converted into gaskets, washers, strips, or coated with adhesives or foils depending on the application.

What Are Flame Retardant Neoprene Sponge Sheets?
Neoprene, also known as polychloroprene (CR), is a versatile material widely used in industrial sealing and cushioning applications. The FR (flame retardant) grade is a grey, closed-cell material, offering the same advantages as standard neoprene—such as excellent weathering, oil, and chemical resistance—while providing fire-resistant properties, meeting FMVSS302 and UL94-HF1 flammability tests.
Flame retardant neoprene sheets are available in full sheets or cut to size for gaskets, washers, seals, or strips, offering a robust solution for fire-risk environments.
Why Use Flame Retardant Neoprene Sponge Sheets?
FR neoprene sponge sheets provide a range of desirable properties for industrial, commercial, and safety applications:
- Excellent resistance to UV, ozone, water, oil, gases, acids, and alkalis
- Closed-cell structure prevents mould and bacterial growth
- Wide operating temperature range: -40°C to +80°C
- Tested to FMVSS302 and UL94-HF1 for flame retardancy
Sheets can be converted into air- and water-tight seals, weather strips, gaskets, or washers, or supplied as complete sheets for custom conversion by end users.
Benefits Of Using Flame Retardant Neoprene Sponge
- Oil & chemical resistant
- Durable and long-lasting
- Resistant to UV, ozone, and weathering
- Flame retardant for fire-risk applications
- Sound and vibration absorbing
- Closed-cell structure prevents bacteria and mould growth
Other Types of Neoprene Sponge Available
We supply multiple neoprene grades, giving customers flexibility for different applications:
- Medium Density Neoprene Sponge: Versatile, UV and ozone resistant, operating from -40°C to +115°C, good chemical stability, suitable for oils and fuels
- Firm Grade Neoprene Sponge: Closed-cell, FMVSS302 fire-tested, density 180kg (+/- 25), ideal for heavy-duty sealing where less compression is needed
- EPDM/Neoprene Blend Sponge: Combines EPDM’s outdoor/weathering resistance with neoprene’s oil/chemical resistance, perfect for outdoor sealing applications
Please contact us if you need guidance on selecting the right neoprene sponge grade for your application or require samples for testing.
The Advantages of Using Flame Retardant Neoprene Sponge Sheets
FR neoprene sponge sheets are premium-grade material offering all the benefits of standard neoprene, with additional fire-resistant properties.
- Long-lasting and durable, suitable for indoor and outdoor use
- Provides dust, air, and watertight seals under minimal compression
- Excellent resistance to oil, chemicals, and weathering
- Flexible and robust, often used as flame retardant seals, weather strips, and industrial components
- Can be coated with self-adhesives or foils for added functionality
