As each form of seal needs to be manufactured using a different process, ASG has invested heavily in various machinery meaning can offer both high and low volume seals in virtually any shape or size.

What are Flame Retardant Silicone Rubber seals?

Silicone (SI) rubber is available in various grades including those formulated for use in specific industries, requiring additional properties such as Flame Retardancy. 

Flame Retardant Silicone rubber can be used for direct heat and flame applications, offering self-extinguishing properties (at 3mm thick) and meets the following standards: UL94V0 flammability standards.

It also conforms to BS6853, Cal 1A as well as TS EN 45 545-2 safety standards.  Flame Retardant Silicone Rubber seals are a device or substrate that is used to join surfaces together to either, acting as a separator or a body to prevent liquids, solids or gases escaping or penetrating the application. 

Flame Retardant Silicone Rubber seals can take the form of cut gaskets, strips, washers, extruded profiles and cord, which under compression, ‘hardens’ the material to create a secure seal.

    Why use Flame Retardant Silicone Rubber seals?

    Silicone rubber materials are excellent for cutting high-performance mechanical seals which can operate at high and low temperatures with a working temperature range of -55°C to + 230°C, whilst performing well when exposed to UV, weathering, ozone and moisture.  

    Flame retardant silicone rubber is made using the same formulation as standard silicone rubber, but incorporating additives to give the material flame resistant and self-extinguishing properties. 

    There are many off the shelf seals available for standard fittings, but customers also have the option of having their flame retardant silicone rubber seals bespoke made into their desired profile.
