GA25 Chemically Cross-Linked Polyethylene Foam Strip

GA25 Chemically Cross Linked polyethylene foam strips

At Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd, we specialise in the manufacture of foam strips, also known as foam tapes, gasket strips, or gasket tapes. Among our most popular products are chemically cross-linked polyethene foam strips, known for their strength, durability, and versatility.

This high-performance material is produced in three forms: unlaminated sheets, laminated sheet blocks for custom thicknesses, and continuous rolls available in various lengths. Each can be expertly converted into precision cross-linked polyethylene foam strips based on your required dimensions.

Thanks to our in-house manufacturing and conversion capabilities, we maintain complete control over quality and accuracy. Using advanced machinery such as bandsaws, log cutters, presses, and stripping machines, we can produce foam strips that meet exacting tolerances for a wide range of industrial applications — from insulation and sealing to packaging and protection.

Our GA25 chemically cross linked polyethylene foam strips can be cut from rolls or sheets in thicknesses starting at just 1 mm, with widths from 4 mm and lengths up to 50 m (depending on thickness). We also offer laminated options, allowing for the bonding of multiple layers for increased depth or the application of self-adhesive backings, foils, or other materials as required.

What are Chemically Cross-Linked Polyethylene Foam Strips?

Chemically cross-linked polyethylene foam (XLPE) is one of the most advanced types of polyethylene foam we offer. It’s created by heating and foaming low-density polyethylene before extrusion, forming a fine closed-cell “honeycomb” structure. This process results in an exceptionally tough and resilient material.

The foam is available in both sheet and plank form — with or without laminations — and can be further processed to achieve greater thicknesses or combined with other substrates to form composite materials. It’s available in plain or self-adhesive backed finishes, making it highly adaptable for a wide range of industrial and commercial uses.

GA25 chemically cross linked PE foam strips are typically used as sealing or cushioning materials. Cut to specific lengths or coils, they are ideal for creating reliable seals between uneven surfaces, filling gaps, and preventing air, dust, or water ingress.

Why use Chemically Cross-Linked Polyethylene Foam Strips?

Chemically cross-linked polyethylene foam strips (XLPE) are used across multiple industries, including construction, automotive, marine, HVAC, healthcare, sports and leisure, and packaging.

Their closed-cell structure provides excellent insulation, water resistance, and impact absorption, while their tough outer “skin” gives additional durability and UV resistance. This makes them perfect for demanding environments, from HVAC flange gaskets and mounting tapes to protective packaging and electronic cushioning (with optional anti-static grades available).

The material’s low thermal transmission makes it an excellent choice for insulation, while its ability to absorb shock ensures reliable performance in packaging and protective applications.

    Different Types Available

Our wide manufacturing network enables Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd to supply a comprehensive range of polyethylene foam materials — many of which are available from stock for a quick turnaround. Popular grades include:

    • Alveo

    • Anti-Static

    • Ethafoam

    • EVA Foam

    • Flame Retardant

    • Plastazote

    • Stratocell

Each material offers distinct performance benefits suited to specific environments, ensuring we can provide the perfect foam solution for your requirements.

The Advantages of Using Chemically Cross-Linked Polyethylene Foam Strips

XLPE foam strips deliver an outstanding balance of toughness, light weight, and longevity. Produced via extrusion, the foam’s surface forms a denser skin that enhances strength and provides resistance to water, air, sunlight, and mechanical wear.

These properties make XLPE foam ideal for:

    • Thermal and acoustic insulation

    • Shock absorption and cushioning

    • Sealing and gasketing

    • Protective packaging

    • Buoyancy applications

For electronic applications, anti-static compounds can be incorporated for added safety. The material is also easy to cut, shape, and laminate, allowing rapid conversion into strips, tapes, and custom gaskets.

Benefits of Using Chemically Cross-Linked Polyethylene Foam Strips

    • Excellent thermal and acoustic insulation

    • Long-lasting durability

    • High resistance to water, air, and UV exposure

    • Chemical and fluid resistance

    • Ideal for shock absorption or buoyancy

    • Lightweight and strong

    • Simple to cut, laminate, and convert into strips and tapes
