Flame Retardant Plastazote Sheet
Flame Retardant Plastazote Sheet
Various grades of Polyethylene foam are stocked and converted by Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd, using a network of suppliers enabling us to offer sheets (including flame retardant plastazote foam sheets) and products cut from them using various types of Polyethylene (PE) foam, including Flame Retardant Plastazote, in densities ranging from 15kg to 70kg (referred to as LD15FR, LD33FR, LD45FR, LD60FR or LD70FR respectively).
This material is a closed cell, cross-linked polyethylene foam which is incredibly lightweight, and free from chemical agents which enables customers to use this material in highly sensitive environments where flame and heat resistance is crucial. Flame Retardant Plastazote PE foam is manufactured and stocked in block form, which using in-house state of the art machinery we can split down in order to produce flame retardant plastazote foam sheets in various thicknesses starting from as little as 1.5mm and in lengths of 1 or 2 meter long.
Our on-site laminating service enables us to supply flame retardant plastazote foam sheets with a choice of finishes including plain or coated on one of both faces with a range of self-adhesives, foils or even laminated to other materials.

What Are Flame Retardant Plastazote Foam Sheets?
Flame Retardant Plastazote foams (used to manufacture our FR grade plastazote foam sheets) are a cross-linked, closed cell polyethylene material, man- made using crude oil into which nitrogen is blown and the foam is expanded giving the cellular structure. Flame Retardant plastazote is produced using the same compound as standard plastazote, but with the addition of flame retardant additives.
When the plastazote foam is compressed each nitrogen filled cell acts like a squashed balloon, causing the foam to bounce back to its original shape, the closed cell structure of plastazote means it is impenetrable to air and moisture and will not allow liquids to pass through or be absorbed making it an excellent choice for sealing and gasket component production.
Flame Retardant Plastazote foam can be cut down into finished products, but is often taken in sheet form as it gives the customer and end user the flexibility to be able to cut their own strips, gaskets, washers, etc out as and when they are required or for when larger pieces of materials are required to cover greater surface areas
Why Use Flame Retardant Plastazote Foam Sheets?
Customers use sheets of Flame Retardant plastazote PE foam as they offer all the many excellent properties of a standard plastazote, but formulated with flame retardant additives mixed into the compound, often used as an alternative to more expensive materials such as EPDM or Neoprene sponge.
Plastazote foams can be easily split from blocks or ‘buns’, therefore our on-site facilities are able to produce flame retardant plastazote foam sheets in bespoke widths and lengths, with 2 meter by 1 meter sizes being the standard. Flame Retardant plastazote offers excellent compression following compression and impact, resistance to a range of chemicals, solvents, acids, alkalies, some oils, heat and flame, meaning it can be utilised in many applications.
All Plastazote materials are lightweight and free from chemical agents, therefore the gaskets are safe to use in many ‘clean’ applications such as food, pharmaceutical and science.
Flame retardant plastazote foam sheets and components cut from them can be used to fill gaps and irregularities between uneven surfaces, provide a solution to unwanted rattles, noise, vibrations, to seal against air, gas, dust and liquids, and can also be used to cushion between moving parts to reduce friction and damage to components and equipment.
Benefits Of Using Flame Retardant Plastazote Foam
- Flame retardant plastazote foam sheets are lightweight & durable
- Good impact and shock absorbing properties
- Water repellent and buoyant
- Excellent chemical, oils, acids, alkalis and solvent resistance
- Good thermal insulation
- Non-toxic and low odour
- Plastazote foam sheets Flame and Heat resistant
Advantages Of Using Flame Retardant Plastazote Foam Sheets
Using Flame Retardant Plastazote foam offers users countless advantages and therefore the material is highly utilised in numerous industries and applications.
As the plastazote foam sheets are produced in-house, we are able to make them in bespoke sizes to meet our customers requirements. Flame Retardant Plastazote foam is a man-made material, designed to suit a range of requirements and is available in a choice of densities.
Flame retardant plastazote foams are odourless, lightweight, buoyant, non-toxic and offer resistance to many oils, solvents, acids, alkalis, heat and flame. It’s closed cell surface and structure does not allow the absorption of liquids and is easy to keep clean, as well as being weatherproof and UV stable.
Flame Retardant Plastazote foams are usually the preferred choice for the production of seals or components which require excellent recovery from repetitive impact. Flame retardant plastazote products offer great thermal properties including high levels of vibration, shock absorption, heat and flame resistance for use within the automotive, construction and aviation industries.
