Neoprene Foam Washers

Neoprene Foam Washers

Neoprene sponge washers are precision-manufactured using high-quality neoprene materials and state-of-the-art machinery. At Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd (ASG), all washers are made to order, based on dimensions, samples, or drawings provided by our customers, ensuring a perfect fit for your application. Small sample runs are also available for testing before full production.

Depending on the washer size and quantity, our production team selects from atomisers, auto feeders, travelling head presses, kiss-cut machines, or, for large/thick washers, CNC oscillating knives are used to produce washers with minimal lead times.

With in-house splitting and laminating capabilities, we manufacture neoprene sponge washers ranging in thickness from 1 mm to 3 mm. Thicker washers can be created by laminating multiple layers of material. All products can be supplied with plain or self-adhesive finishes.

What is a Neoprene Sponge Washer?

Neoprene (Polychloroprene) sponge is a premium material used in our washers, sourced from leading suppliers to ensure top quality and performance.

A neoprene sponge washer is a flat ring cut from sheets or blocks of material, designed to:

  • Act as a spacer or seal.

  • Provide a level surface between the two components.

  • Spread the pressure of nuts and bolts when tightened.

  • Reduce noise, vibration, and unwanted movement.

Neoprene sponge features a closed-cell structure, enabling it to compress between surfaces and form an air-, dust-, and water-tight seal, making it suitable for use in machinery, electronics, vehicles, and various industrial applications. All our neoprene washers are fully bespoke and tailored to your requirements.

    Why Use Neoprene Sponge Washers?

Neoprene sponge washers offer a unique combination of durability, flexibility, and resilience. Their closed-cell structure ensures a long-lasting air, dust, and water-tight seal. Neoprene is resistant to ozone, sunlight, oxidation, UV exposure, oils, and chemicals, making it ideal for outdoor, automotive, construction, glazing, electronic, and industrial applications.

The material is also flame-retardant, robust under mechanical stress, and suitable for high-intensity or hazardous environments.

    Why Use a Washer?

    Washers act as:

    • Gap fillers

    • Seals against air, dust, or water

    • Cushions or spacers

At ASG, we manufacture washers from a wide range of materials, including neoprene, silicone, rubber, sponge, plastics, polyethylene, PVC, polyester, cork, and textiles, using specialist presses and CNC machinery. All washers are produced in-house to customer specifications, with commonly used sizes also available for purchase.

    Benefits of Neoprene Sponge Washers

    • Oil and chemical resistant.

    • Durable and long-lasting.

    • Resistant to UV, ozone, and weathering.

    • Flame retardant.

    • Sound and vibration absorbing.

    • A closed-cell structure prevents bacterial and mould growth.

Advantages of Using Neoprene Sponge Washers

Neoprene sponge washers maintain their performance over time without becoming brittle. They withstand extreme temperatures, making them suitable for both hot and cold environments.

ASG stocks neoprene sponge in block form, allowing for rapid production and delivery. The material is easy to cut, laminate, and finish, with options for self-adhesive backing for simplified application.

When minimally compressed, neoprene washers form an effective seal against dust, air, and water, while providing resistance to oil and mechanical wear. These properties make them ideal for marine, automotive, glazing, electronics, lighting, ventilation, building, and construction applications.

    Different Grades

We offer a wide range of neoprene sponge grades:

    • Medium Density – Standard closed-cell neoprene sponge for general applications.

    • Firm Grade – Dense, closed-cell neoprene tested to FMVSS 302, ideal for heavy-duty sealing where minimal compression is required.

    • Flame Retardant – Grey, compliant with FMVSS 302, UL94, AFNOR P9750, suitable for construction and transport applications.

    • EPDM/Neoprene Blend – Combines the weather resistance of EPDM with the oil and chemical resistance of neoprene, making it ideal for outdoor sealing applications.

Unsure which grade you need? Contact ASG for advice or request samples for testing.
