Nitrile Insertion Rubber Washers
Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd convert and supply washers manufactured using a huge range of solid rubber types, including solid nitrile insertion rubber. As with all solid rubber, nitrile insertion rubber is manufactured in roll form at 1.4 meters wide x 10 meters long, in thicknesses starting at just 1 mm from which washers can be cut. Using high quality materials and state of the art machinery, our in-house conversion facilities produce a range of nitrile insertion rubber washers, all made to order by following samples or drawings as a template to ensure the final product perfectly fits the application - even offering a small sample batch if required for testing.
Depending on the size and quantity of washers required, our production team will select from our range of atoms, autos, travelling head, kiss cut presses or for very large or thick washers, we can programme our CNC (oscillating knife) to produce the washers in the most efficient way to keep quality high, whilst keeping costs competitive and lead times as low as possible.

What are Solid Nitrile Insertion Rubber Washers?
Solid nitrile insertion rubber is a manufactured using the same compound and to the same specification as standard nitrile rubber giving the washers the same excellent properties, but with a mesh/fabric reinforcement layer running through the centre which is referred to as the ‘insertion’, used to prevent the material from stretching, therefore increasing its wear and tear resistance.
Nitrile Insertion rubber rubber washers are a flat ring comprising of an outer diameter (OD), inner diameter (ID) and the thickness, cut from a sheet or roll of materials, which is placed between two surfaces creating a level surface, acting as a spacer or between a nut and bolt to spread the pressure when tightened or to create a better fit for fittings such as screws. They are also used within equipment and machinery between moving parts for abrasion resistance, vibration dampening, sealing and noise reduction.
Why use Solid Nitrile Insertion Rubber Washers?
Washers cut from Nitrile insertion rubber offer a countless number of excellent properties and are excellent for creating air, dust and water tight seals. They have an excellent tensile strength, anti- abrasion properties and resistance to petrol, mineral & vegetable oils and some acids and alkalis.
The material also has some flame retardancy, and a working temperature range of -20°C to +70℃, usually manufactured in a 65° shore hardness (the shore hardness is measured using a shore durometer which indicates the level of resistance to indentation ,the higher number on the scale indicate a greater resistance - harder the material/lower number indicate less resistance- softer the material).
Benefits Of Using Nitrile Insertion Washers:
- Resistant to many chemicals and solvents
- Suitable for automotive industries
- Water, mineral oil, petrol resistance.
- Can be formed into complex seals and extrusions
- Abrasive resistant and excellent mechanical strength
- Excellent seal against gasses
- Tear and stretch resistance
Different Grades of Insertion Rubber Available
Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd have a network of material suppliers and manufacturers, meaning we have access to various grades of insertion rubber which include:
SBR Insertion rubber (Styrene-butadiene rubber) is a cost effective, commercial grade, general purpose rubber with good abrasion resistance, tensile strength and low compression set. SBR rubber is not suitable for applications involving chemicals, ozone, very strong acids, grease, fat oils and hydrocarbons.
Neoprene insertion rubber (CR) Solid Neoprene is one of our most popular solid rubber materials, with various thicknesses held in stock. Neoprene is suitable for use where there is exposure to grease, oil, acids, ozone and even sea water.
Solid EPDM insertion rubber (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) another very popular solid rubber is great for use in outdoor applications. This material is resistant to water, UV, ozone, weather, abrasion, alkalines, ketones and diluted acids.
Advantages of using Solid Nitrile Insertion Rubber Washers
One of the advantages to using Solid Nitrile Insertion rubber washers is mainly used for their resistance to ‘swell’ when exposed to oils and fuel, therefore holding its sealing capabilities and not breaking down or corroding, making it a popular choice for the production of automotive gaskets, abrasive applications, flange gaskets on pipes and tanks, oil and fuel seals, insulating and isolation barriers.
Industries where nitrile insertion rubber washers can be found include mining, quarrying, construction, automotive, oil, gas, defence, etc. Washers are generally cut from stock rolls or sheets produced at standard thicknesses, meaning they can usually be turned around within a fairly minimal lead time as there is no need for the material to be split to thickness.Depending on the size and quantity of gaskets required, ASG will select the best machine to quickly and accurately convert the washers in the most cost effective way.
