Nomex Sheet

Nomex Sheet

Only the highest quality materials, sourced from reputable suppliers worldwide, are employed by ASG to provide solutions for nearly any sealing or insulating application, even the most hazardous or demanding ones. Among the products available in our extensive catalog are those crafted from electrical insulation materials, a diverse group with unique properties tailored to specific needs. Nomex materials, an example in this category, are obtainable as either board or paper grades, and ASG offers various electrically insulating materials.

Nomex boards are manufactured as Nomex sheets, ranging from 1mm to 4mm in thickness. The paper form is produced in rolls of different sizes and thicknesses, spanning from 0.05mm to 0.76mm. These materials can be transformed into sheets or further converted into numerous components. Our facilities are equipped with specialist conversion machines, including slitters, log cutters, bandsaws, presses, and kiss-cut presses, allowing us to convert these material sheets into products like strips, pads, washers, and gaskets. These items can also be supplied coated with a variety of foils and adhesive tapes.

    What are Nomex Sheets?

Nomex boards and paper sheets are synthetic aromatic polyamide polymers created from two types of synthetic aramid polymers: 'floc' for mechanical strength and 'fibrids' for binding particles. These materials can be enhanced with greater densities through calendering, creating a permanent bond between the fiber structures. Nomex sheets excel in high-temperature applications, providing dielectric strength and resistance to chemicals. They can be used as-is or converted into finished cut products.

    Why use Nomex Sheets?

Customers often choose Nomex for various applications, particularly in electrical insulation for its ability to perform in extreme temperatures. Nomex components effectively restrict electric current flow, safeguarding conductors during installation, repairs, or device use. Nomex insulation also prevents electrical arcing, reducing electric shock and fire risks. It boasts high temperature resistance, chemical resilience, electrical insulation, and flame retardancy.

Differences Between Nomex Board and Nomex Paper

Nomex boards, with superior rigidity and thickness compared to paper, excel in thermal and mechanical aspects. These sheets, up to 6m x 3m, come in three densities, ideal for crafting finished components using saws or presses.

Nomex papers, flexible and robust, exist in continuous rolls from 0.05mm to 0.76mm thicknesses, with variations based on the chosen Nomex paper type. Nomex offers diverse properties, including mechanical strength, flame and corona resistance, and crucially, electrical insulation. Paper variants are softer, more flexible, and suitable for cushioning.
