Nylon Plastic Pads
Nylon Plastic Pads
Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd are able to cut pads from most materials including plastics, which are available in many grades, colours, thicknesses and finishes, with one type being Nylon Plastic. Nylon plastic products are one of the most popular plastic materials used within the engineering sector as it is available in a number of standard sheet sizes from 250mm x 250mm up to 2000mm x 1220, in thicknesses from 1mm to 100mm thick from which pads can be cut. As Nylon plastic can be manufactured by either casting or extruding, pads can also be made available in almost any bespoke size and thickness. Nylon plastic sheets can be taken in full or alternatively converted onsite using one of many saws, presses or our CNC oscillating knife into pads or discs which can be supplied coated with a choice of adhesive tapes or foils.

What are Nylatron Plastic Pads?
When looking for Nylon plastic, our customers have the option of taking Nylon plastic pads which can be produced as squares or rectangles with the option of radius corners, and also as circular or oval shaped pads or ‘discs’, in a range of thicknesses. Manufacturing pads in-house even means we can supply them in a plain or self-adhesive backed finish and even laminate multiple types of material together to create bespoke and unique variations. Nylon is a synthetic thermoplastic linear polyamide, most widely available in black or white (natural), pads manufactured using Nylon plastics are commonly used for engineering applications. Nylon plastic pads are available in extruded and cast grades with the cast variant being stronger, easier to machine and can be made into very thick profiles that exceed the standard 100mm and produced in different grades such as oil-filled, metal detectable and flame retardant grades.
Why use Nylon Plastic Pads?
Pads manufactured using Nylon plastic are used for a number of reasons, they offer high tensile strength, stiffness and good mechanical properties. Nylon plastic pads provide moderate resistance to chemicals, are electrically insulating and perform well when exposed to heat for prolonged periods - the high melting temperature makes it a great substitute for metals in many high-temperature environments. Nylon plastic sheets are relatively easy to machine and convert into pads using the right tools and can therefore be used in the production of wear pads, anti-vibration blocks and pads, as well as many times of seals and fittings.

Advantages of Using Nylon Plastic Pads
Plastic pads can be found used within a number of industries, with ones manufactured using Nylon being one of the most utilised types due to its number of excellent properties. Nylon plastic pads ofer extreme high temperature resistance and strength, often used to cut form into other components, used to replace metal bearings, jigs and fixtures as they will not corrode through weathering, water or chemical exposures. General purpose Nylon plastic pads are often utilised for mechanical construction and maintenance due to its optimal combination of mechanical strength, stiffness, toughness, mechanical damping properties and wear resistance together with a good electrical insulating ability and a good chemical resistance.
Using Nylon components can reduce the need for additional lubrication when used between moving parts, reduce the weight of a product by replacing metal parts and fixtures with plastic ones, reduce noise and wear caused by abrasion or impact. Nylon plastic pads are very strong, offering some flex and recovery, making them more resistant to impact in comparison to metal alternatives, absorbing shock, noise and vibration. Some popular uses for Nylon plastic include the production of bearings, gears, rollers, seals and wear pads in engineering, aircraft, automotive and electronics industries.
