Plastazote Polyethylene Foam Seals
Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd are one of the country’s leading suppliers of foam seals, including various types of Polyethylene (PE) foam, available in different colours, grades and densities, one of which includes Plastazote foam which is manufactured in densities ranging from 15kg to 70kg (referred to as LD15, LD33, LD45, LD60 or LD70 respectively). This material is a closed cell, cross-linked polyethylene foam which is incredibly lightweight, and free from chemical agents which enables customers to use this material in highly sensitive environments. ASG produce some of the highest quality plastazote foam seals, taking the forms of gaskets, washers, strips and and extrusions, which are all designed for the purpose of preventing leaks or the ingress of air, fluids and gas. All our seals are made to order and are based on samples or drawings provided by customers to ensure the final product perfectly fits the application - with sample runs available for testing and prototyping. As each form of seal needs to be manufactured using a different process, ASG have invested heavily in various machinery meaning we can produce both high and low volumes.

What are Plastazote Polyethylene Foam Seals?
Plastazote foam seals are used to join mating surfaces together whilst acting as a separator or a barrier to prevent liquids, particles or gases escaping or penetrating the application. ‘Seal’ is a generic term for a group of products often taking the form of cut gaskets, strips, washers or extruded profiles. Plastazote foams are a high quality cross-linked, closed cell polyethylene foam, man-made using crude oil into which nitrogen is blown and the foam is expanded. This manufacturing process produces a tough and flexible material, with a closed cell structure meaning it is impenetrable to air and moisture and will not allow liquids to pass through or be absorbed making them perfect for use as seals and sealing tapes.
Why use Plastazote Polyethylene Foam Seals?
Low density Plastazote foam seals can offer excellent recovery following compression and impact, resistance to a range of chemicals, solvents, acids, alkalies and some oils, meaning the rolls and components converted from them can be utilised in many sealing applications. All Plastazote materials are lightweight and free from chemical agents, therefore also used within ‘clean’ applications such as food, pharmaceutical and science. Plastazote foam seals can also be used to provide a solution to unwanted rattles, noise, vibrations, and to cushion between moving parts to reduce friction and damage to components and equipment.
Different Grades of Polyethylene Available
Having a network of manufacturers and suppliers, allows ASG to offer a full range of polyethylene materials, many of which are readily available from stock for a quick turnaround. Below is just a selection of some of our popular polyethylene material types we can offer:
- Polyethylene (Block foam)
- Anti static
- Ethafoam
- Eva foam
- Flame retardant
- Chemically cross linked
- Plastazote (densities from 15kg to 70kg)
- Stratocell
Benefits of Using Plastazote Polyethylene Foam?
- Lightweight & durable
- Good impact and shock absorbing properties
- Water-repellent and buoyant
- Excellent chemical, oils, acids, alkalis and solvent resistance
- Good thermal insulation
- Non-toxic and low odour
- Easy to cut, convert & shape
Advantages of Using Plastazote Polyethylene Foam Seals
Many sealing applications benefit from the use of Plastazote foam seals which offer multiple advantages. Plastazote foam materials are man-made, designed to suit a range of requirements and are available in a choice of grades, densities and colours to suit. Plastazote foams are odourless, lightweight, buoyant, non-toxic and offer resistance to many oils, solvents, acids and alkalis.
Its closed cell surface does not allow the absorption of liquids and is easy to keep clean, as well as being weatherproof and UV stable, therefore suitable for the production of components such as gaskets, washers, weatherstrips and sealing tapes. Depending upon the size and quantity of plastazote foam seal required, ASG can offer a production method which is the most efficient and cost effective, whether it’s pressed parts or a completely bespoke extruded profile, ASG can offer a solution.
