Polyester Polyurethane Foam sheets, also known as Polyester Urethane Foam, Ester-Based Polyurethane Foam, or Esterfoam, are versatile products offered by Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd. They come in various grades and densities.
Polyester PU foam sheets are flexible, showcasing excellent tensile strength and chemical resistance. In contrast to Polyether foam sheets, they tend to be stiffer, stronger, and more supportive. They have a glittery appearance and a rougher, denser texture. Ester foam sheets are available in standard and can be custom-made in anti-static, conductive electrostatic dissipative (ESD), and Flame Retardant (FR) options.
While Ester foam sheets are often used in packaging applications, their rough texture and chemical instability may necessitate an additional protective material between the foam and the packaged object. Polyester Polyurethane raw material is manufactured in large master blocks or 'buns,' typically measuring 2 to 2.5 meters in length, 1 to 2 meters in width, and 175 to 1260 mm in thickness. These blocks are held in stock and can be cut into finished sheets starting from approximately 1.5mm thick. With in-house conversion and lamination services, we can not only cut Polyester sheets but also bond sheets together to create thicker products, laminate different materials to make composite sheets, and apply self-adhesives or foil facings.
Polyester foam has inherent resistance to moisture, making it suitable for use in environments where exposure to humidity or damp conditions is a concern. This property can contribute to the longevity and stability of the foam.
Polyester foam tends to resist mold and mildew growth, providing a healthier and cleaner environment, especially in applications where moisture is present.
Polyester foam is often resistant to chemicals, making it suitable for use in applications where exposure to various substances is likely.
Polyester foam exhibits high resilience, meaning it can quickly return to its original shape after being compressed. This makes it suitable for applications where consistent cushioning and support are required, such as in mattresses or upholstery.
Polyester foam is known for its durability and longevity. It can withstand repeated compression and usage, making it a robust choice for applications that involve regular wear and tear.
In bedding and furniture applications, polyester foam sheets are often used to provide comfort and support. The foam conforms to the body's contours, offering a comfortable and ergonomic experience for users.
What are Polyester Polyurethane Foam Sheets
Polyester Polyurethane foam sheets are created by slicing master blocks into precise thicknesses, starting from approximately 1.5mm. Like Polyether foam, Polyester Polyurethane Foam is a member of the polymer family. Also known as Polyester Foam Sheet or Ester Foam Sheet, it's a flexible material with high tensile strength and chemical resistance, providing greater strength and rigidity compared to Polyether. Standard Polyester Polyurethane is charcoal-colored and produced using polyester polyols, catalysts, and blowing agents, creating an open-cell foam texture. Additives can be incorporated during manufacturing to meet fire code standards and provide anti-microbial, anti-static, conductive, or electrostatic dissipative (ESD) properties.

Why Use Polyester Polyurethane Foam Sheet
Polyester Polyurethane foam sheets resemble those cut from Polyether blocks but have a rougher texture and a sparkly appearance. They excel in applications requiring high chemical resistance, with better resistance to hydrocarbons, alcohols, stretching, and tearing. These sheets possess a fine open cell structure, uniform appearance, and permeability to air and water, while offering higher viscosity, abrasion resistance, and cut resistance.
Polyester PU foams exhibit reasonably high tensile strength, though not as high as standard polyethylene foams, and can withstand temperatures from -30 to +110 ºC. They are often used for filtration or sound/vibration dampening in large areas. Alternatively, ASG or customers utilize them to create various products like washers, pads, gaskets, and strips. In-house sheet production using advanced splitters enables us to provide sheets as thin as 1.5mm, in plain or self-adhesive backed finishes, and to laminate multiple materials for customized variations.

Advantages of Using Polyester Polyurethane Foam Sheets
Customers opt for Polyester Foam Sheets due to their exceptional durability and a range of advantageous properties suitable for diverse applications. These open-cell foams facilitate breathability, allowing air circulation within their structure. They boast outstanding compressibility, swiftly recovering from repeated loading, making them ideal for cushioning purposes.
Polyester PU Foam sheets offer flexibility with high tensile strength, tear resistance, and resilience to mold, mildew, and fungus. They resist grease, oil, water, and temperature variations, working effectively within a range of around -30°C to +110°C. These sheets can be used in applications involving contact and exposure to gases such as oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide, thanks to their fine cell structure, which enhances shock absorption.
In the manufacturing process, Polyester Foam compounds can be treated to produce pink-colored polyester sheeting, known as Pink Anti-static foam. This foam dissipates electrostatic charges in sensitive electronic equipment. The greater rigidity of Polyester PU foam sheets allows their use in cleaning products like sponges and mops. They also find applications in acoustic tiles, soundproofing pads, protective packaging case inserts, and as water or air filters.
