Polyester Plastic Strip
Polyester Plastic Strip
Cut plastic strips are one of thousands of products on offer from Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd’s vast catalogue, available in numerous grades and colours, with one type being Polyester Plastic.
Polyester Plastic Strips can be manufactured using the material in it’s standard grade, but also in glass-reinforced and flame retardant variants, these specialist grades are designed for the strips to be used in applications where a higher strength or heat resistance is required.
Polyester Plastic can be manufactured in a range of sheet sizes up to 3050 x 2050mm and in thicknesses between 0.8 and 6mm as standard from which strips can cut, but can also be moulded into bespoke sizes and profiles where they can’t be cut from just a flat sheet. Using customers' drawings or dimensions, one of our many on-site saws, presses or CNC machines, we are able to convert Polyester plastic sheets into cut strips which can be supplied with a choice of self adhesives or foils.

What are Polyester Plastic Strips?
Strips cut from Polyester (PET or polyethylene terephthalate) are used as the product provides high dimensional stability, excellent mechanical strength and good resistance to creep.
Polyester is a thermoplastic which means it can repeatedly be melted and reformed. It offers resistance to chemicals, provides very low moisture absorption and is a good electrical insulator. Polyester Plastic Strips are often purchased for use in the same way as a gasket, whereby they are used to create a seal between uneven surfaces and fill irregularities or to act as insulation such as electrical barriers.
Why use Polyester Plastic Strips?
The Polyester materials we used in the production of our strip is a high density plastic combining excellent mechanical, electrical and thermal properties with good chemical resistance and dimensional stability.
Polyester Plastic Strips can be manufactured by cutting from sheets of material or alternatively extruded or moulded into bespoke profiles. Polyester plastic materials have good electrical properties, heat and ageing resistance, low creep, good colour retention, and wear resistance.
Polyester Plastic Strips can be used where there is exposure to dilute acids, oils and greases and alcohol, UV and a number of chemicals offering an operating temperature range of -20°C up to +115ºC.

Advantages of using Polyester Plastic Strip
Polyester plastic has its own set of excellent properties and characteristics which make it an excellent material choice for a number of applications. Polyester plastic can be easily machined into strip even where there is very delicate detailing, or can alternatively be moulded or extruded into an infinite number of bespoke profiles with smooth or textured surfaces.
Polyester Plastic Strip offers excellent electrical properties, resistance to heat and heat ageing, excellent wear properties, low water absorption, UV , Ozone and chemical resistance. These excellent features makes the material highly durable and offer endless uses. Polyester Plastic Strips can be cut and converted into a range of intricate sizes using various techniques including laser cutting, die cutting, sawing and even thermoforming (where the material is heated until it is soft, re-shaped and then left to cool and harden).
Polyester Plastic Strips and components cut from them can be found in the automotive industry as interior cases, handles and wiper arms, they can be used as switches and casings in the electronics industry, converted into gears, gaskets, rollers for engineering uses and even as medicine dispensers and dosers within the pharmaceutical industry. Transparent Polyester is also safe for use as food and drink packaging, sometimes used as egg cartons, as a glass alternative to bottles.
