As with other PU foams, Polyether Polyurethane Foam washers are suited to a wide range of applications as it’s a highly versatile material offering more resistance to oxidation and ageing in comparison to most other rubber and foams.
As well as being durable and lightweight, it is also cost-efficient making it a popular choice for many items. Polyether Polyurethane Foam is manufactured in very large master blocks or ‘buns’ usually ranging from around 2 to 2.5meters in length, 1 to 2 metres in width and 175 to 1260 mm in thickness, which are held in stock from which washers can be produced.
Polyether Polyurethane Foam washers are manufactured on-site using drawings or measurements provided by our customers, with whom we work closely to ensure the final product is to their exact specification. Depending upon the size and quantity of washers required, one of many presses or CNC machines can be used to manufacture the final product - from one off samples to multiple thousand batch runs, we have a machine designed to quickly and accurately produce perfectly formed washers everytime.

Our Polyether foam washers can be supplied in a plain finish, laminated in layers to create greater thicknesses, laminated to other materials or coated with a choice of self-adhesives and foils prior to the washers being cut.

What are Polyether Foam Washers?
Polyether PU Foam washers are a flat ring of material with an outer diameter (OD) and inner diameter (ID) measurement, which is placed between two surfaces creating cushioning, acting as a spacer, filtration seal/component cut as a ring shape.
Our Polyether foam washers can be produced in a range of thicknesses from as little as around 2mm, manufacturing them inhouse means we can supply them in a plain or self adhesive backed finish and even laminate multiple types of material together to create bespoke and unique variations. Polyurethane foams are just one of many members of the polymer family, with Polyether being a very soft soft, open cell, low density variant, available in grey or white often used in low cost applications. Polyether PU foams are formulated and manufactured using a combination of polyether polyols, catalysts and blowing agents which create the foam open cell texture.
During the manufacturing process, further additives can be added to the formulation in order to produce Polyether foam with additional properties such as flame retardancy, anti-static, anti-bacterial and many more.
Why use Polyether Foam Washers?
Polyether Polyurethane Foam washers look very similar to those made using Polyester PU,but are a lighter grey in colour, much softer, lightweight and dont have the rough texture of glittery appearance. Polyether foams are manufactured as large blocks of material which can be easily split, sawn and fabricated into many different components each with excellent properties including excellent compressibility, meaning it will bounce back and recover quickly, this compressibility makes it a great choice of materials of cushioning applications.
The thickness of the Polyether Foam used will also impact the efficiency of the washers filtration capacity as the thicker the foam, the less air is allowed to flow through the cells - even more so when the material is under compression as the pores will decrease in size therefore reducing the amount of air passing through the product and also increasing the amount of dust and debris it catches. Polyether foam washers can also be easily compressed which again will further alter their properties in terms of how firm and porous it is - this will also help determine the thickness of the washer that is actually needed.
Unlike many other washers which are used to seal against moisture ingress and spread pressure between fixings, Polyether foams are more useful in air filtration or anti vibration applications. Polyether foam washers are flexible with a high tensile properties and tear resistance, resistance to mold, mildew and fungus growth as well as grease oil water and temperature with working temperature range of around -20°C to +120°C. Polyether Polyurethane washers are perfect for use as cushioning, vibration dampening, heat insulation or surface protection.
