We have state of the conversion and laminating machines based on site, as well as storage facilities which mean we can stock blocks (buns), rolls and sheets of Polyethylene, in a range of densities and colours all ready to be converted into one of 1000’s of products including our Polyethylene foam washers.
You may know this material as block foam, PE foam, Polyethylene sponge or LDPE (low density Polyethylene) foam.
Blocks of Polyethylene foam can be split down to thicknesses starting from as little as 1.5mm, in 2 metre x 1 metre sized sheets or rolls - made by joining blocks of material together prior to splitting them, both of which can be used to further convert into cut washers.
Polyethylene foam washers are all bespoke and made to order, and produced using dimensions, samples or drawings provided by our customers, ensuring the final product perfectly fits the application - and we can even facilitate a small sample run.
Depending on the size and quantity of the washers required, our production team will select from our range of atoms, autos, travelling head presses, and kiss cut pressing machines - or for very large or thick washers, we can program our CNC (oscillating knife) to produce the washers in the most efficient way to keep lead times and costs down.
Polyethylene foam is stocked in a range of grades, colours and densities, which can be laminated to other materials or coated with a self-adhesive backing prior to the washers being cut.

What are Polyethylene Foam Washers?
Foam washers are most commonly used to distribute load, and Polyethylene is one of the most popular materials we use. These washers are a chemically cross-linked foam, part of the Thermoplastic foam family, which is foamed prior to curing to create a small, uniform, closed-cell structure and a high quality, lightweight material. Polyethylene materials demonstrate a number of resistances and insulation properties as well as being available in a variety of grades such as EEV, EVA, Conduction, Anti-static and Flame Retardant, densities, and colours. Densities in which Polyethylene foam washers can be produced include 25kg, 30kg, 45kg, 60kg, 100kg - the density of the foam is measured as the weight or mass of the foam across its entire volume or within a cubic metre (m3).
The denser the foam, the heavier and more compact the material is, this can vary some of the properties of the material and how it performs. Polyethylene foam washers are a flat ring, comprising of an Outer Diameter (OD), Internal Diameter (ID) and the thickness, cut from a sheet or roll of material, which is placed between two surfaces in order to create a level surface, to act as a spacer or to be placed between a nut/bolt to spread the pressure when tightened, creating a seal and a snug fit.
Why use Polyethylene Foam Washers?
Customers choose Polyethylene foam for their washer production as the material is widely available and the choice of grades available, which allows the washers to be used in different applications and environments. Polyethylene foam washers, regardless of the grade used, have the same properties - a low compression set, are resistant to water, oils, chemicals and weather, with the possibility for other additives to produce other grades and therefore additional properties. Being made from a closed cell material, these washers have a good tear resistance making them easy to accurately convert even using the most vigorous processes and they don't support mould or fungus growth.
Polyethylene foam and washers cut from this material have a number of desirable properties including resistance to wear and tear, Ozone, UV and a working temperature range of -60°C - +90°C. Polyethylene foam also offers excellent mechanical characteristics including noise and vibration control and can be used for thermal insulation.
Polyethylene foam washers can be used to fill gaps and irregularities between uneven surfaces and fixtures, provide a solution to unwanted rattles, noise, vibrations, to seal against air, gas, dust and liquids, and can also be used to cushion between moving parts to reduce friction and damage to components and equipment.
