Reconstituted foam
Polyurethane sheets, including reconstituted varieties, are part of Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd’s (ASG) comprehensive material range. Reconstituted polyurethane foam, also called recon, crumb, or chip foam, features a multi-coloured, textured appearance. These sheets are made from large master blocks, often measuring over 2 meters by 1.5 meters and exceeding 1 meter in height. These blocks are readily processed into reconstituted polyurethane foam sheets for a wide range of applications.
What Are Reconstituted Foam Sheets?
Chip foam, also known as reconstituted polyurethane foam sheets, is made from recycled polyurethane off-cuts and trimmings. Waste foam is shredded into small pieces, then compressed and bonded into multi-colored foam blocks. These blocks are cut into sheets or further processed into finished products.
Advanced ASG machinery enables the production of reconstituted foam sheets as thin as 2mm, with options for lamination, adhesive coatings, and foils. This flexibility ensures the material can meet exact application requirements.
Why Use Reconstituted Foam Sheets?
Reconstituted polyurethane foam is an economical, resilient, and eco-friendly material. Recon sheets are ideal for repeated use, impact absorption, and cushioning applications. Typical uses include public seating cushions, transport seating, gym mats, packaging, and soundproofing solutions.
Available in weights from 4lb to 14lb, Recon foam suits both small-scale and large-scale projects, helping to reduce waste while providing cost-effective performance.

Advantages Of Using Reconstituted Foam Sheets
Reconstituted foam sheets offer multiple advantages, making them a preferred choice across industries. They are cost-effective and eco-friendly, created from recycled off-cuts and leftover materials from other converted products. Recon foam is widely used for cushioning, sound and vibration control, and protective applications in various sectors, including automotive, audio, sports and leisure, aerospace, marine, rail, and domestic manufacturing.
Despite being made from mixed PU foam scraps, reconstituted foam can be tailored to different densities and weights. By adjusting the compression during production, sheets can be manufactured to meet specific performance requirements. ASG’s advanced machinery allows production of sheets in various sizes and thicknesses, as well as finished products such as gaskets, pads, strips, and seals. Foils or self-adhesive coatings can also be applied where required.
Available Grades of Polyurethane Foam
ASG works with multiple manufacturers to provide a broad range of polyurethane foam options, including:
- Acoustic
- Eggbox
- Pick & Pluck
- HLB
- Basotech
- Polyester
- Polyether
- Reticulated (Retic)
Our on-site conversion machinery enables sheets to be cut to just 2mm thickness, while also accommodating further customisation into finished products such as gaskets, washers, strips, and pads. We utilise presses, kiss-cut machines, and band saws to tailor sheets to your exact specifications. Sheets can be delivered in plain form, laminated, or coated with foils or self-adhesives to suit specific requirements.
